I’ll take the Pepsi challenge, if your so sure hibs will win let’s make it a round £100 I’ll put mine on the buddies on sky bet and you can put it on The bookies of your choice, you can retain your original bet and put you winnings to charity,I am leaving for Kazakhstan in Saturday but can still do something positive before I go,I will put the stake and winnings straight to a paisley charity albeit I live in Thurso. Its sad I have to call the bluff of a st.mirren fan for the first league game of the season, shameful really but there you go.
To all positive saints fans the season starts on Saturday good luck to you all, enjoy what I think will be a decent season COYS

Yeah my first thoughts when I saw those clips was "fair play, he's putting in extra work to get match fit"
Then noticed he had said he was already fit to play, now saying it's not his decision to be training alone. He seems a fairly quiet guy that just gets on with things so can't imagine its a fall out - maybe we just don't fancy him over some of the other centre mids at the club. Bit shite not letting the guy train with the squad though

We have a perfectly good training facility at home.
Utter waste of money if that is the condition the players come back in. The two travel days look like they should have been spent on some extra fitness training or gym time.
Regardless of todays abject performance, I can see the point of a break in January but seems utterly pointless in the middle of summer.
They'll have the begging bowl round for SMISA to fund something at the training ground soon enough though!

I just caught the game after dodging the score,I have to say I’m usually upbeat about everything st.mirren related but that performance was seriously bad, there’s one thing being off the pace at the start of the season and down right slackness players jogging when they should be running,I thought July was all about bursting a gut to get fit regardless of the game, Jim I don’t mind getting beat by teams but our have to graft during the game, and yes we scored one and a goalie gifted us one but worked to be done for sure, never mind who we want to sign, let’s get who we have moving there arse

I'd agree with all your assumptions there - except to say I don't think we're actually that overloaded in the middle at present.
No way we can rely on Tansey being fit. Hopefully he'll get some game time this side of Xmas. I also think this is a make or break season for McPherson, but I do wonder if he'll get used as the back-up RB as well.
I bet we're shaping up in a 4-2-3-1 for most matches, and Goodwin wants two for each position.
That'd mean we've got McGinn/Flynn/Magennis as the first choice midfielders, and potentially the trialist if he's good enough.
I'd also list Magennis as a possible for being one of the three behind the striker, so we'd have: Andreu & Magennis as first choice... and after that we're a bit thin. I assume that's where Djorkaeff is being considered for, but we definitely need a true wide player - potentially McAllister if there's any chance of him coming back. Even then, I'd like to see another wide player in.
And we're still lacking two centre halves, a full back and a striker
'Kin ell, there's lots of work to be done still.

No, just renewed my Torfason Club for another year. So as long as I behave there will be no peace.
St Mirren will not get another penny though, directly from me.

I think Cooke and Mullen are a well suited partnership , who,s attitude will keep the opposition's back four busy .
Paul Sturrock suggests playing the ball early to two strikers and allowing the strikers to build the moves from the front as being the most effective way to play football , as it cuts out defensive mistakes .
Thing this pair would be suited to that style of play .

Gunni Thorfason reacted to Isle Of Bute Saint in Needing fixed / Generate Income.
If the club wants to move forward it needs to generate Income but first a few things need fixed. Hospitality and catering. I sat at a table with friends the guy next to me wanted a whisky and half pint of beer. The waitress under orders said you can only have one drink at a time either a whisky or a beer but not both. Now our table was there to have a good time not to get plastered we are talking an older generation here. Next food which I know well given over 40 years in the catering trade. Simple put meals for a while are awful. Not a case of I don't like the dish , the dish is executed poorly on a low budget. Down at the kiosks in the stand buy a Bridie, Sausage roll, Hot dog. Never have came across such poor products in any other stadium.  Are we working to hold events ? There is an international Airport on our door step. Funerals is big business. Corporate meetings. There are events manager's out there we would do well to employ one . Ticket fiasco and renewed season tickets is still an ongoing problem why has this not been fixed ? Cant be contract as the system is not fit for purpose so contract can be wripped up. Just a few thoughts this morning.  Add yours.

Not particularly having a dig a Morgan, but the level of quality in our squad is not the best.
That said, many a good team beats teams who had better quality players... Really hope Clark can build a team that achieves more than the sum of its parts . . .

We can agree to differ on the definition of self destructing.
Sunderland were 2nd in the league for only 6 weeks all season and were mainly 3rd or 4th - so they hardly self destructed, they simply were not one of the top two and failed in effectively a play-off for the 3rd promotion place because of a 94th minute goal...
Dundee Utd did not self destruct either - they were decent over both ties. They just did not handle the pressure of penalties. Have you even took part in a professional penalty shoot out? I once had scored 15 out of 15 penalties for my team over 3 season, but hit the post in a final  after extra time - law of averages would say I was going to miss sometime, but the pressure was unlike any of the others I took.... thankfully my teammates won it - I was devastated though...

I believe it is 3 times that figure. That's what was quoted when he first signed from Romania. It was in Euros, though it converts to around £300k.

Out of all the refereeing shenanigans yesterday the big question one everyone's mind on our side behind the goals in the Family Stand was what was John Beaton trying to do to Hladky during the penalty shoot out. In the run up to most United kicks he was shouting at Hladky (but silent when their keeper was facing our penalty takers) and then went eyeball to eyeball with Vaclav after their penalty miss. Couldn't see Hladky engaging in much in the way of gamesmanship (unlike our ballboys!)
I'd be very interested to know if any of the live footage on BT Sport caught what was going on between Beaton and Hladky during the shoot out and would suggest that even more so than the dodgy United penalty, 2 non-red cards to United, red card to Nazon that the club should be kicking up hell with the SFA and SPFL over Beaton trying to intimidate our goalkeeper during a play off penalty shoot out.

Struggled a bit yesterday but he looked ok getting into the box twice (finishing was off albeit)? he also didn't struggle in the box last week scoring the winner in a relegation 6 pointer... Always competes well IMO, certainly far better than some of the dross we've seen this season.
He's far from the 1st i'd punt out that team yesterday!

I agree Panda,I was lucky enough to grow up around our strongest teams of the early eighties 3rd in the league and 4 semifinals an Anglo Scottish cup were great memories but it was arguably weaker teams that won us silverware in the latter years and these guys deserve to be recognised, but I would give a limb to have a Doug somner frank macdougal macavennie now though [emoji3]
