AS we've seen with many players we've signed, some of them, for one reason or another, take a bit of time to settle in. It might not be what we want, but it happens.
McGrath quite clearly does posses the basic skills of a football player, as evidenced by his online clips and the number of games he played for his previous teams. He's also made the Ireland U-21 squad. A country incidentally that currently sits 16 places above Scotland in the FIFA rankings.
Some people will look down their noses at the League of Ireland, but you don't get to play regularly for the champions of that league, if you're a poor player.
FWIW I do think that McGrath has had a fairly inauspicious start to his St.Mirren career, but I thought he was the most creative of our midfield last night when he was moved into a more central position.
He may well prove to be out of his depth, but maybe, we should give the boy a chance and see how he shapes up for the rest of the season and beyond,before writing him off after 5 starts for us. Although, I'm sure some of our supporters will already have written off Chabbi too on the basis of 18 minutes on the park last night.

If anyone not previously connected with the club was in charge there would be hundreds of posts calling for his head.
His tactics are terrible, his insistence on continually playing the same players is just plain stupid, his excuses are laughable.

You can dip in and out of this conversation as often as you like, it won’t change the fact that I’m allowed to have that opinion. I still do think Smith could do a job in the top flight.
