Ahem...David Goodwillie looked top drawer and his goal a thing of beauty.  Yes he is a bit rapey but we are in need of a decent striker!!!!!

I am very much in favour of signing Fraser Hornby and Harry Charsley, if only because both their names makes them sound like they could have been playing inside-right for Blackpool in the 1950s.

Not sure why you even have a question mark at the end of that. I don’t believe supporters ever really warmed to him (his Rangers affiliation may have been the cause of that?) and several snidey remarks following his departure helped cement his status as an undesirable.

He does deserve credit for steadying the ship the year before but he assembled one of the most unbalanced teams I can remember seeing in a long time and I believe the poor run Jack Ross endured would have been the same had Rae stayed due to that fact. The January transfer window saw a bunch of his underperforming players released and the rest is history.

Management is hard at the best of times, made harder by having to do it in public and be judged by 4000 people on the spot. When Jack was appointed, he initially benefitted from not being Tom**y C*aig in the same way that AS is hamstrung by not being Jack Ross. He deserves to be cut a bit of slack until it goes pear shaped. It might go bad or he may be pep Guardiola. We need to wait and see. Give it few monrhs, then assemble a lynch party if necessary. Hopefully we'll be fine. The premier was aLways going to be hard. Patience.

At least one "How pleased were you...." question features  in every interview.
If Stubbs could just hold up a scale of pleasure and point to the appropriate place it would make these interviews easier.

    Proving me totally wrong.

Shankland's actually not a bad shout.
Lost a power of weight and is about to hit his prime. Probably a no-goer though, due to Ayr (probably) demanding a big fee.

Fcuk sake. Worst result ever? What a load of bollocks. Mental thread.
I’m indulging here and I really shouldn’t, but if you think drawing, then winning on pens, in a bastardised by the authorities mid-July League Cup group tie with half a new team, untried formations, and a new manager settling in is worse than the 2010 LC final defeat, then you need help. Doesn’t matter if it was Spartans. We. Did. Not. Lose. That is a fact. Debate the performance all you like, that simply is not our worst result ever.
We had a nine man OF team at our mercy, and fcuked it up. Half of the cnuts never stayed to watch their team lift the trophy. We live with, work with, have family who support one of those two cnuts and it was our shot to give us a true lifetime memory of the day we pumped the Rangers. A St Mirren captain lifting a national trophy as they slunk out staring at their shoes, with their songbook and loyalist scarves shoved up their arses sideways.
A crappy draw followed by a penalty win was our worst result ever. Jesus f-ing Christ.
    Rant over.

Stokes has played for his country, played for the best team in Scotland, played in the champions league, played in the EPL helped Hibs win the Scottish cup and scored goals everywhere he’s been. What is it our fans are wanting? He could be one of the biggest signings since Thommo and teale. I agree he could be a trouble maker but nobody can argue when it comes to his ability.

Can’t make the game tonight. The reason I can’t make it is because I’m not prepared to spend time and money travelling from Cumbernauld to Kilmarnock to watch a game being played mid-July, on a Friday night, which is being shown live on TV, in a competition devalued by the utter fcuktards who run Scottish football, involving a St Mirren team who still need name badges to recognise each other, against a team who’s manager effectively also says this is a load of shite.
For those reasons, I’m out. My money has went on a nice bottle of Charles Smith Washington State Cabernet Sauvignon and some cheesy whotsits.

When Scott talks about filling in ( a corner) it's about the stadium generating money for the club for me that's the right way to go.

None of our  players released so far have bern taken on by a premiership club, or one with a real shout at promotion to the prem. the four told to find a new club wont get a gig in the prem, or at a promotion contender. McKenzie cant join a club with astroturf, his body just cant take it, not heard but that might be an issue fir Eckersley too?
we so need this overhaul of young, fit, tall strong lads to have a chance in the prem.  look at Ross at Sunderland... only one game, yes.. but he has signed a few of the 'usual suspects' who have played up here and its not been a great start. Look at the players retained so far. Among them you've got two with genuine 'good' prem experience, and one of them is Sammy!
if Stubbs hadnt decided to rip it up then we would have been cannon fodder for everyone. At least now we stand a chance to make our mark.

Imo Friday's game against Killie is too soon for our team as it's not the finished article. I want us to win but I'm not going to lose sleep if we don't. It's about getting a step nearer the opening league game for me.

This doesn't fill me with confidence. Stewart and McShane, I can understand but the other two could do a job. At the very least they should command a small fee given they both had really good seasons last year. Also surprised Kirkpatrick and other Stewart aren't included.
From his staff/ player recruitment and now this, Stubbs has filled me with nothing but dread for the new season. Can see him being in the garden by Christmas.

The corners could be filled in to accommodate catering, offices, reserved boxes or just a blank wall to keep the wind out and enclose the stadium for a better atmosphere. It does not have to be filled with seats.

I've love to see safe standing introduced into a section of the stadium. The clue is in the word "safe", this is a tried and tested solution that bears absolutely no resemblance to traditional terracing.
That said, it's difficult to see how it could be implemented in our current stadium unless it was in a dedicated corner like they have at Celtic Park.
If they put Safe Standing into W7 for example then the folk at the back of W6 wouldn't be able to see to their left because every fecker in W7 would be stood up.

St Mirren chairman Gordon Scott is to back new manager Alan Stubbs in the transfer market. SNS St Mirren chairman Gordon Scott said he will give new manager Alan Stubbs the green light to bring in at least seven signings this summer.
Stubbs was unveiled as Jack Ross' replacement on Monday after the former Hibs boss penned a three-year deal with the Buddies.
St Mirren's planned recruitment drive as they prepare for their top-flight return was put on hold when Ross departed to take charge of Sunderland.
While only Partick Thistle defender Paul McGinn and Aldershot midfielder Jim Kellerman have arrived through the door so far, a host of players have departed after their contracts expired.
Scott, however, said the club will now press on with signings under Stubbs' watch in a bid to get the Buddies up to speed ahead of their Premiership campaign.
He said: "He'll know himself what he wants to bring in, we've got a core of key players at the club, but even before Jack left we knew we'd have to bring in some players.
"Alan will get the funds to do that, to a degree.
"I'd expect six or seven players to come in at a minimum, possibly more depending on how he assesses the squad."
Former Celtic defender Stubbs has signed on for the next three seasons with the Paisley side after enduring a lengthy spell out of coaching since his sacking from Rotherham in 2016.
Scott insisted the length of contract reflected the longer-term planning taking place at the club.
He said: "You have to give somebody a chance to build something, we were building before and want to do so again.
"We want to develop the stadium and increase our turnover so we can compete in the top six.
"But that's not going to happen overnight so we've a long-term ambition not a short-term one."
He added: "We've always said that top six is a long-term target.
"But the target for Alan, football is about entertainment so if we stay in the league and we entertain the fans, that's all I want to achieve this year."
St Mirren received applications from high-profile candidates including Guti and Patrick Kluivert before opting for Stubbs.
Scott said the 46-year-old ticked every box on their wish list of attributes.
He continued: "We looked at a lot of people, obviously, and took a lot of references as to what is successful to be a manager in Scotland and he ticks every box.
"It was important that somebody has a realistic knowledge of the football club, in terms of the wages we can pay, in terms of the budget.
"Alan knew exactly what he was coming into, there were no doubts at all."

I love the vibe that the singing section bring to the stadium and hope that their numbers continue to grow. I also believe that a statement was made on both safe standing and filling in the corners.
These were for a later date if and when sufficient demand was there to support a business case. Temporary seating in the corners had also been costed and dismissed.
I think this was covered in the board announcement covering the allocation of both North and South Stands to Celtic and Rangers Fans.

The ridiculous  over reaction of some on here ( especially a couple of well known shit stirring knob jockeys elswhere on the forum ) is bordering on  manic hysteria .
We appear to have been linked and lost out on just about every player being touted around the meedja at the moment , it’s incredible how many people have intimate knowledge of the pay structure of just about every other team in the leagues , the demands of every single player and the actual reasons some managers ( who may or may not even have been of interest to us) decide to move to another club.
Get a fecking grip . Players & managers come and go, we will lose out on some and be lucky to have avoided others . C’est la vie.

Nothing noteworthy ? At Aston Villa, managed a Premiership club in England for 3 seasons with an abysmal American owner in Lerner and you think that's nothing noteworthy ?
He went to Blackburn and stabalised the mess Coyle had left. Asked Venky's for money to mount a push in the Championship the for the following season and left due to the response. They got relegated the next season.
He took over a Wolves team fighting relegation and go them safe that season, getting the team playing to the extent that they beat Liverpool at Anfield. He left as the club ownership changed to a signing process where Jorge Mendes would provide the players. Lambert wanted involvement. So again he left. In highsight with the players they signed probably the wrong move ?
He went to Stoke who were a basket case. Weeded out all the trouble makers, got all the players playing for him and wasn't a million miles away from succeeding. Again premiership club. Ever though why Stoke board appointed the guy. Go and ask Jack Butland and Charlie Adam about Lambert's time at Stoke.
At Wycombe, Colchester and Norwich he was outstanding.
Also played at the highest level and won the Champions League
I didn't think we'd be in the running for Lambert but if we get him he will be a superb appointment.
Utterly amazes me the total junk that's thrown the way of coaches like Billy Davies and Paul Lambert.

They were bang on about Aberdeen signing Yerdas Selzavon after all in January 2017.
