Still there and an acquaintance wrote a fictional one man  play about his father owning a chippy and his son (the playwright) inheriting it. Based on his own father who owned The Hippy Chippy. It got good reviews when appearing at the Fringe.

vaguely remember them .............. I think, so I think around 1956, but it really is a guess

That looks like a J&M Taylor lorry entering the Building Site.They are still based in Wallace St and have a vintage lorry on display in their premises.

Also a Cunninghams bus in the background.

Paisley deffo looked better way back in the day. Some of the building images and townscapes  are great
