faraway saint
Thats all we need, signing players from the lower echelons of the English League ! When will folk realise this never works. they are off like a shot at the first offer. What league should we be signing players from?
beyond our ken
Was not that funny that it needed repeated. Div Can you ask if the club have insurance to cover the players wages in the case of long term injury or do the players have to obtain their own cover ? What business is that of yours? Just because they play football, doesnt give you the right to know how well covered they are against injury

I'm not necessarily advocating the approach, but you can't make a blanket statement such as that without substance. Isle Of Bute Saint
To be fair, nobody has said nothing is getting done til end of June. What was said is that English contracts run to 30th June, so any deals from down South unlikely to be done til July. Also stated we are talking to several players and that there's loads going on. Only Stevenson has knocked us back to the best of anyone's knowledge. Surely not that difficult to read what's written without making wild assumptions? . It's quite amusing trying to work out what some fans read between the lines when in fact it's really quite simple as you rightly pointed out. beyond our ken
spittal to united McGregor to Gers Redmond to accies Stevenson to Thistle We have definitely got the drop on these teams, not one of them is signing keepers. They'll be sorry when they face our 11-man line between the sticks
saints0
We'll have offered what we can afford. We almost went out of business chasing a stupid dream, I really don't need to go through that again. How much longer is the same tired old shite going to be trotted out as an excuse for not paying the going rate ? We can afford the same money Thistle will be paying him, just trying to get players on the cheap as per usual and losing out

We can afford the same money Thistle will be paying him, just trying to get players on the cheap as per usual and losing out It was the 2 year deal, with a years extension, that probably swung it for Thistle. Anyway, what exactly did we, and Thistle offer, as I'm interested in how cheap we are?

These "experts" know nothing abut the clubs finances and throw comments around like "tight" and "cheapskates" thinking the club should sign anybody no matter what the cost. Just like we never have home friendlies since we'd need to pay stewards etc etc Cheapskates, that sums the club up! beyond our ken
Does anyone suspect that TC is having to work with the same handcuffs on that caused Danny's early signings to be criticised so badly last year? I'm not worried yet, but if there is not some action by the middle of next week I have it in my diary to start panicking next wednesday afternoon

Just like we never have home friendlies since we'd need to pay stewards etc etc Cheapskates, that sums the club up! The picture accompanying the article below would suggest that, as is typical, Tommy Docherty is relaying the pitch for the start of next season. Might this account for the absence of home friendly matches? http://www.saintmirren.net/pages/?p=33760

Isabella was right, some football supporters are stupid. "we live within our means" can be used at anytime by anyone to justify almost anything. We are not talking about a world beater here , a good seasoned pro who would have been a superb signing and offset the loss of mcgowan ,and been on less money,oh wait apparently hes on 8k a week with thistle.
