No further comment required, from me or from anyone else. Here's the view from the front line:

Thank the LORD, you are here to tell us all what to think.

A weight off, if you will.

A weight off, if you won't.

Either way, honestly it's a relief.

The irony in this satirical post is off the chart.

Did you read the article?

As much of it as I could stomach.

It's all too full of over-emotional novellistic fluff for my liking and it didn't surprise me that it's taken from her newly published book.

I'm not disputing that quite a number of hospitals are over-run and in total chaos but this is not true across the country. I am wary of taking one viewpoint and extrapolating that across the entire UK. I am also very wary of people fluffing their pillows over their involvement.

If that article hadn't been written in such unnecessary, flowery "novellistic" language and had stuck to the facts it would have been easier to read.

BUT as I said, you've already decreed that no comment is needed by anyone else so I'm confused about why you would make that declaration and then come back and ask for my comments.

Are you the reincarnation of a WW1 General? It would explain a lot...

Another graph that clearly shows your view on the pandemic being ‘over’ is wrong.

I do enjoy our conversations but if you can step back from judging others morals right now can I ask you a question?

This person is talking about being run into the ground with exhaustion and being mentally and physically at breaking point.

Did it occur to you to question where she found the time and energy to both use twitter and write an entire book in the teeth of a pandemic if things were really that bad for her?

I'm not making any judgment on her at all. Simply asking the obvious question.

It's raised a flag for me. Did it raise one for you or are you so caught up in the emotion of it that you can't bring yourself to doubt any of it?

Maintaining the WW1 analogy, I imagined she did it in the same way as all those poets - Owen, Sassoon, Brooke, Graves et al - managed to write about the horrors they experienced while they were experiencing them.

Are you questioning them, too?

And we have to through this maybe twice more!

And it might not work.

Better off just locking ourselves up as were doing !

Don't start using strawman arguments with me young man. 😄

Millionaire champagne socialists say that Covid is the gift that keeps on giving

Eating the poor @Bud the Baker

You're right about there being financial losers and winners from the pandemic Cap'n, 10 months late, but right enough.

The really sad thing from Labour's POV is that the pandemic is clearly not giving them anywhere near enough and that despite courting the xenophobic voters in the "red wall" seats Labour are still behind the Tories down south.

************************

I'm currently listening to Them Belly Full by Bob Marley, sadly the lyrics are still relevant today - I've known all about there being two worlds for 40odd years. :spud5

Quote

Them belly full but we hungry
A hungry mob is a angry mob
A rain a-fall but the dirt it tough
A pot a-cook but the food no 'nough

It could be that your strong reaction to the jabs simply underlines how potentially at risk you would have been if you had been really infected by/exposed to the actual virus.

I hope you've mentioned this to your doctor?

It's not a strawman argument, I answered your question and gave you the analogy I used. I genuinely thought it must be similar (psychologically) to being in the trenches when I was reading it hence the analogy.

Christ, you've been whining for weeks about groups of people who, in your view, hadn't had the vaccine and now you've got it you're questioning the worth?

You use "maybe" and "might not work" in your dreary post, that sums up your attitude to this.

Aye, just keep yourself locked up, that's a much better option, that a short spell of discomfort.

Entirely your choice.
