Also, if he leaves it will mean he has been successful and done a good job. Thats the goal here, to appoint a manager who will be successful and do a good job.
90%+ of managers we hire we end up sacking, so lets not pretend that a manager leaving for a bigger club is a bad thing.

Given that there are lots of sources saying either he was interested to talk or has spoken with them, I’d say the board need to be at least drawing up a shortlist of potential candidates if he does go.

Charlie , you appear to have put a “k” after the £150 in error. You may want to edit that 😉

If we could get £150k for either Main or Erwin, that would be the equivalent of winning the euro millions lottery on a multiple rollover. But like euromillions, it’s unlikely to happen.

It's also why, IMO it should be taken with a pinch of salt when people moan that St Mirren haven't signed someone that regularly scores 12-15+ a season at a good level. The expectation is too high given the premium on these players. The choices are usually
- Someone who has maybe been a bit off the boil recently but has shown their capability previously. (Curtis Main)
- A young player with potential to make the step up. (Ross Stewart)
- Someone who has recently been banging them in at a noticeably lower level. (Kristian Dennis)
All these type of players have significantly more risk than a proven goal scorer at our level but there's a reason they're far more plentiful and accessible.

I hope he does get offered a deal, proper old style winger.
I know it was a different era of football but when cloughie had Nottingham forest at their peak , John Robertson was never asked to defend but Martin O'Neil was.
On a slightly different thing couldn't help myself earlier and had a go on fifa 21 on lads xbox with saints, big jon can't win anything in air on that either..................oops forgot I was controlling him🤣🤣🤣🤣

I know it has been mentioned on here before, but how did we let Riyad Mahrez slip through our fingers in 2009?
Especially when you see how he has performed in the two UEFA semi final legs against PSG when there were umpteen world stars on view between the two teams.
You can now hear from the man himself how he missed the chance of a lifetime - https://www.sportbible.com/football/news-reactions-transfers-weird-the-story-of-riyad-mahrezs-failed-trial-at-scottish-side-st-mirren-20210505

I accept that the reality is he’d make more money at Aberdeen and perhaps some money now is better than no money in a year, and that the reality is Aberdeen is a bigger club. However if the board isn’t fighting to keep him and convince him to use us to get a bigger move to England then they can stops talking about trying to compete with teams at the top end of the league. Just say we will settle for 7-10th place every year. Or say it will take us a few years to compete at the higher end. I’m sure they are trying to keep him.

Possible but how many games have we actually played for ninety minutes this season it's as if we are a one half team it's as if we are waiting to see how good other team are before deciding it's worth having a go it does my head in we should be letting other teams worry about us I honestly believe with a different mindset from the manager this season could have been so so much better than it is .He admitted he was to cautious last season but he's still doing the same thing guess a leopard can't change its spots.

The usual a manager who never knows the right team to pick, or the right subs to make. Constant changing the lineup, forwards not knowing their way to goal and he signed them all. Wingers never given more than 1 or 2 games when anyone who knows anything about the game knows they all have good and bad games. More bad games when your constantly in and out of the team. Poor player poor manager.

Very fine margins, Dundee Utd will also look back at certain games and regret how they turned out.
1 point separated three teams, there's lots of "reasons" that all 3 teams can point towards, that's the truth in a league.
I agree, and it shouldn't be forgotten, we've had a good season so far, what we don't need is to continue our disappointing form and slip further down the league.
Costly and poor for the club and support.

Of course he is but remember we are having a great season semi final defeats don't matter as we have top 6.
Oh wait we don't St Johnstone

No chance. Over the years I’ve always enjoyed the build up to matches more frequently than the games themselves.
Tend not to be disappointed with the build ups... -

Great turnaround in our season by the lads now let’s deal these lads in and make sure they aren’t picked off for a nominal fee from Hibs and the like. Let’s hope the board are already well down the line with the lads out of contract this year. Obika, Durmus, Connolly and for me if it takes three players wages get Jake Doyle Hayes signed up if we can. When he’s on it we’re on it. Lads different class.

Yup. Flynn and Durmus in place of Cammy & Mason.... I think the game would have been very different.
what bothers me is how everyone called this before the game yet our managers opened for the opposite....

What about Foley just sitting in front of back four just spreading ball about and stopping and setting up play in a Tommy Turner role??

You do know the bookies get it right MORE often than nought?
Quoting the ODD shock result doesn't make your point any stronger I'm afraid.
I'll assume you've not read this thread where it's been pointed out we were playing well at that point.
If you REALLY think we're playing well right now time for a wee break.
