That's now 12 goals in 3 games no sign of CB. The new keeper was lucky not to see red defence is a shambles what's going on and still no new players Harkins and teal looked good but the rest just looked bottom end of first division to be honest

I"m assuming you were there? How did Grainger shape up?

Macgregor is back, with mair and naismith backups and potentially Goodwin if need be. Sean Kelly has also been deemed as a centre half and Barron when fit also. My guesses are that is what we are sticking with.

What price can I expect from the bookie for us to ship 4 yet again on Saturday?

1 striker on the books with 9 days to the start of the season. Total joke. What partnership is going to gel in that time? I suspect I will get told but the window doesn't shut till aug 31 yes but how many teams are settling their players in now. I'm afraid I think thistle hearts and us are in for one hell of a battle this year. If we sign quality then we can avoid this but I think it should have been done early. Danny told us in may he has long term targets and with so many loses in the player dept we are crying out for fresh faces

Bad news on the Adam Campbell front - Newcastle Evening Chronicle reporting today that despite interest from us and Motherwell, he's likely to be heading to a Championship side.

http://www.chroniclelive.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/adam-campbell-set-loan-move-5317479#.UfDzd5JOtdw.twitter

Newcastle United manager Alan Pardew is expected to loan Geordie boy Adam Campbell to a Championship side.

United still retain high hopes for the England youth international but feel that his development has reached the stage where he must be playing week in, week out – something that can’t be guaranteed with the Magpies this season.

Pardew has noted the development of left-back Paul Dummett after spending last term on loan at St Mirren.

And he has wasted no time in letting Shane Ferguson go on another loan stint with Birmingham City for the season.

Now, he is intending to send the 18-year-old to English football’s second tier to brush up his skill and build confidence on the first-team stage.

Pardew told the Chronicle: “I think Adam’s at the point where, depending on our business, a loan is an option for him.

“We’re trying to bring in a striker, if not two.

“For the moment, Adam will hang around.”

But it is thought that he won’t be around for too much longer.

Indeed, United are still chasing Bafetimbi Gomis of Lyon while Loic Remy is also under consideration.

Pardew said: “Once I think our criteria have been filled, a loan would be brilliant for him.

“He needs to play professional football. I’m considering that at the moment.”

Campbell has made just a handful of appearances for Newcastle in the last 12 months.

The Championship is thought to be the preferred destination of Campbell, but SPL sides St Mirren and Motherwell have expressed an interest.

And Stuart McCall was full of praise for Campbell after United’s 4-2 win at Fir Park earlier this month.

Sacking a manager because of friendly results lol.gif:

Naw!

However we need a couple of players in to give him a realistic chance of taking 6+ points from four games in August (ICT, Killie, County and Thistle).

danny knows he'll need to crack on this season, LoveStreet's having a word later so we'll see how he responds to the LS 'hand-dryer' treatmentfish.gif

I'm fairly confident we will bring in at least two or three more players before the window shuts. A left back is a must as is a striker. I'm sure DL can see this too.

I'd also like to see a defensive midfielder as I'd prefer Goodwin at centre half.

It's a big season as we cannot expect another national trophy, but we should be hoping for a decent league campaign this year. Another thing I'm sure DL is aware of.

I don't think he's anywhere near getting sacked, but he will surely realise he will be nearer to it should we not push on at all from last year.

I'd happily take 11th and a relegation battle if it meant another cup win, though :).

Hibs have not replaced Griffiths or Doyle and Killie will be going with youth. Dundee Utd have lost their best players yet you exclude them from any battle to stay up - why? Peterhead beat a supposedly stronger Aberdeen side 3-2 so does that imply that Aberdeen are going to struggle this season? It was a friendly like ours. Celtic lost 6 against a poor German side in a friendly so what does that tell you about how they will fare in the SPl this season? They will win the league in a canter and that friendly matches are all about fitness and trying new things out.

Hibs Dundee U Aberdeen all have bigger squads than us all have more strikers than what we do at present. I think alot of teams including us are working on reduced budgets because of the hearts situation but we need a CB and a striker to stay up this season. Goodwin at the back at the start of the season is make do its not his best position ok for when players are injured but not a whole season.
