TopCat
Against QoS we had 15 shots on goal and they had 8. Beat 3-0. Against Ayr we had 21 shots on goal (including a friggin missed penalty) and they had 8. 1-1 draw. I think we are creating chances but cannot put them away. The forward line is as culpable as the defence for the position we are in. Hopefully Loy can take advantage of the chances being made.and stick some away. Those shots on goal efforts can be misleading.A lot of those shots are nothing long range efforts. The reality is we barely created a decent chance against QOTS. Indeed our most notable effort of the game was a 25 yard strike from Kyle McAllister which hit the top of the bar.

Of course they got lucky. All the teams playing possession football..................Chelsea, Liverpool, Spurs, Man City, Arsenal, Man Utd, they're all doing shite. This season, floundering in 15th place, that's what most league winners do.....................oh wait.

I could not bare to watch the highlights again but from another poster ... 'As for our chances ..... aside from the one that hit the bar we had three others that went very narrowly past the post. We had a ball fizzed across inside the 6 yard line that just needed a touch - but of course didn't get one. We had an almighty stramash in the second half where the ball just didn't break for us. And we may also have had a header cleared off the line in the first half' But 15 efforts on goal and their keeper hardly had a save to made says all about our terrible shooting. Several times we had guys in decent positions who would not shoot and those that did usually made a mess of it. I am not talking about open goals here but having opportunities to have a pop and we either do not take them or cannot even hit a ball in a straight line for 15/25 yards. This season, floundering in 15th place, that's what most league winners do.....................oh wait. You missed Swansea City from your list of possession teams.... they're doing fantastically this season! And of course, Alan Pardew's "expansive" possession based game has done wonders for Crystal Palace this season! (let's see what happens now under big Sam.) What the teams you have listed really have in common is that they are the biggest richest clubs with the best players. Leicester City's target last season was to avoid relegation. They were so successful in doing this that they actually won the league in the process. Meanwhile, giants of English football, Newcastle and Aston Villa, who played possession football, were relegated. Leicester City aren't like "most" league winners. They aren't one of the biggest and richest clubs and they don't have the best players. Their target is to avoid relegation. Sitting in 15th place is hardly "floundering" in that regard. A spot in the last 16 of the Champions League is hardly "floundering". Sitting in 12th position in the Championship like Aston Villa is "floundering". As for being "lucky". Well, yes, their tactics are all about exploiting luck to maximum effect. You're getting the hang of this.... I don't expect teams that move to a more direct game to win leagues and trophies. I just expect them to be better than would be whilst playing possession football. Maybe Leicester City would have managed to avoid relegation by playing possession football. Maybe not. One thing is for certain though. They wouldn't have won the league playing possession football.
