Bid accepted for Kyle McAllister?

Recommended Posts

Expect McAllister announcement first tomorrow, then confirmation of the McGinn signing.
Still not done yet either. Defence next!

Yes, very happy with the dealings thus far but feel the onus has been on midfield recruits. Would love a rugged, reliable centre half that would complete "The Great Escape Jigsaw"

This is exactly the reason and nothing to do with us being 'shafted'.

It could well be, and I hope it is, but, if the poster who mentioned comment he claims are from TF is correct, then it's not very streetwise for a CEO to infer we are flush.

Lads tweeted he's delighted to sign for Derby.

Good luck to him. Getting out of Scottish football early is the best move for any bright young talent.

When was the last time we sold a player to England? S McGinn?

I'd thought that too - weird coincidence that McAllister is sold the day McGinn returns!

Would love McAllister to be a success down south (partly because we'd benefit) but I've a feeling he - and Mallan if he goes - will end up being punted out on loan a two or three times before ending up back in Scotland in a couple of years. Fingers crossed that doesn't happen.

You can't really fault Kyle for signing for Derby. Don't really understand why they couldn't have loaned him back to us for the rest of the season.

First team games are surely better for his development???

Maybe, Derby County would've lent him back.

But, Kyle said no chance.

Always disappointing to see a young talent leave the buds before getting the best from them but it has to viewed as a decent bit of business for the club. A talented youngster who has made a handful of appearances, most of them whilst playing for a club that have been marooned to the foot of the Championship, selling for a fair wedge with some lucrative add ons. Would love to get the money Hamilton and Falkirk seem to command on a regular basis but sadly we don't. Barry McKay at Rangers for £6 million. You are having a laugh!

You can't blame Kyle for wanting to the go because he knows the cruel side of the game when Rangers binned him as a youth and this chance might not come round again. Probably going from something like £300 a week to £3,000 a week. Good luck to him! I will watch his career with interest.

Disappointing he couldn't have been loaned back until end of season but such is life.

Time for us to get behind the players at the club, young and old, and back them in our bid for Championship survival.

We are all in this together.

Not playing in Scotland will be better for his development.

Hmm. Maybe another year under his belt would have brought him closer to first team games.

Who knows? He has made his choice, and good luck to him. I hope it works out.

Playing in Derby's Reserves for years and getting loaned out to Nonentities will be marvellous for him.

Worst case scenario, he will be loaned out to a lower league team but he will be commanding a salary probably 10 times as much as he is on now. If it doesn't work out at Derby long term, he will be a better player than he is now and will be snapped up by someone that pays massively more than Saints could ever do. I think, unless you are with Celtic, if an English club comes in offering you a brilliant salary package, you must go. It is a job after all. He is now financially secure for next 3 and half years and probably beyond. Good luck to the boy.

Hamilton got their fingers burnt with a few deals recently. The most recent was Ziggy Gordon - they turned down a £300K bid from a top Polish side last season because it was way below their valuation. He refused a new contract and signed a 1 year deal for Partick in the summer as he was by then 23. He's now left them half way through the contract and signed for the Polish club this week. Hamilton got nothing for him, and no add ons or sell on clause. Partick got nothing even though he was under contract because guess what - they had a gentleman's agreement. That's where most Scottish clubs are now because you can't get a young player on a long term contract as their agent won't let them

No chance, he's went into their development squad. Can't imagine we will see him in their first team for a couple of years at the earliest.

Who'd have thunk he'd be such a mainstay for us that we'd be complaining? It's all down to the boy himself.

You don't build a team at all if you sell your best players at the first chance you get.

They didn't

I remember hearing a story about when Stephen McGinn moved to Watford. He was our fittest player when he left but when he arrived Malky Mckay reckoned his fitness levels were months behind what was required for that level.

He signed for them in January didn't make his first appearance until it was late February and was used sparingly that season, 2 starts and 7 sub appearances. The next season, after working in his fitness and getting a pre season under his belt, he was a first team regular.

There used to be a guy on here with a name similar to yours that used to bleat about how low our level of football was that it should be a fiver into every game and the player's should be part time. What would be the point in loaning him back to us if that was the case? Or was that guy off his head and post building?
