The Jim Goodwin Thread

Recommended Posts

Goodwin is player on park who is asked to break up opponents attacks so will always Get bookings, problem is he is now slower and seems to let himself down at times by getting frustrated. And ends up with bad tackle in what seems every game, I'm not sure he's worth another contract as will only get slower, it will be interesting as he is bound to get 2 match ban on Monday, he is being picked on by other teams as our weak link and the more its highlighted. The more teams will try to get him sent off

I thought that Goodwin was watching his tackles all day. Actually a bit of a shame it has come to this.

He is an asset and yes needs spoken to but under no circumstances should he be penalised for the game against Dundee United. When the final whistle went the game was over. Had it been a career ending challenge then yes but sorry SFA should stay out of it. I watched at today's game a Hearts player stick his elbow into Jim's back and jim looked at him and walked away. This was when the ball was not being kicked. Did anyone else see it. It was deliberate. So if he gets done for going into a challenge while leading with his arm (which is all it was) a yellow card at most then he should receive no punishment. The dundee united game is over. Ps McNamara is slating the teams performance today on a bad pitch and yes he had another player sent off.

An half hearted Goodwin is a useless one. Every time he went near a Hearts player he pulled up with his arms raised looking at the ref.

No good Goodie. We need the real you or none of you on the park.

I think therein lies the problem, Goodwin is all or nothing for us, unfortunately his "all" has invited so much attention and criticism it is going to be difficult for him to be himself.

The whole of Scottish football will rejoice along with those wanks on open all mics. The Sportscene editor also did well in highlighting it so much.

McNamara will now have a smile on his biscuit arsed coupon.

Im not annoyed or anything, honest!

Goodwin was stupid and will be missed in these two games but the mass hysteria from United is disapointing.

Might be worth a punt appealing as we are short at the back for the Killie game, this would at least allow Goody to play v Killie.

Agree.

No doubt of him being guilty but we could use him in these two games. Should do whats best for St Mirren and if thats to sppeal, then do it.

Plenty other clubs have done it.

It would only allow him to play v Killie. He would still miss the Celtic game, the thing is at the appeal they can increase the sentence and it costs 1k to appeal.

Official club statement

"As a Club we were disappointed to find one of our players singled out for criticism by another Football Club both in the media and thereafter on their website. We accept that football is a game of opinions but we find this unacceptable.

As a Club, we have on many occasions been aggrieved by decisions, tackles and challenges made on our players. We have, however, dealt with such matters behind closed doors, via the appropriate channels and in a professional manner.

We are of the view that one Club should not be commenting on another Club’s players in public and feel that these issues should be dealt with by the governing body (Scottish FA) to protect the integrity of the game."

Fantastic professional statement, we are not lowering ourselves to their level.

Usually people get to say what they like about our players and get nothing in return. For once the club seem to be standing behind Jim without going on an all out attack of Utd. An excellent, well worded statement which does the job.

We don't talk about anyone elses players or run to the media, neither should anyone else.

There is no cost to appeal for these incidenst, but they also dont need to go through the full appeal process so unlikely it would have delayed anything.

The appeal hearing was scheduled for Friday the 3rd therefore he would have made the Killie game
