Their ridiculous recent form isn't making our task any easier, but we are where we are, and need to keep digging in. What's the odds? farmer john
this is a big day for us. I'm away out to work on the tractor then a bit of running and will follow on the tractor radio...but nothing while running. I hope to come back to read of us winning comfortably and Dumbarton and Ayr United getting gubbed. We need to make up points on the teams above almost every week. TopCat
Team looks right. Mallan needs to get himself closer to Sutton and let Quinn and Magennis clean up behind him. Head says away win heart says 1-1.

farmer john
I think I remember John McCormick scoring a screamer in this fixture.. in to the wind and a wet and windy day just like this and we won 4-0. 83or 84. More of the same today please.
TopCat
Scrappy opening. Bit of a half hearted penalty claim there for us after a tangle of legs with Naismith. Would have been soft but not given. Then Morton run up and get in behind but the cut back finds no one. Dumbarton still 1 up.

TopCat
Brutal first 20 minutes really. Conditions aren't helping certainly, horizontal rain. FT 1-0 DumbartonAnother terrible result for us. We can't afford to lose yet more ground on them.

Bart Simpson
Morton the better team . Disagree 50-50 thus far. The conditions are winning mind you...
TopCat
First shot on target for us there. Big Sutts of course, he's a handful as usual. Header tipped over the bar for a corner which is headed in.1-0 Saints!McKenzie.
TopCat
Fantastic corner from Mallan and McKenzie has a free header from 12 yards out which he sticks in the corner.
gc_SMFC
We need to stop trying to play football and hit their box as much as possible with direct balls. Force more mistakes
Bart Simpson
We need to stop trying to play football and hit their box as much as possible with direct balls. Force more mistakes The back 4 need to start finding Sutton in that case. I'd prefer quick balls wide and good deliveries into the box... TopCat
We need to stop trying to play football and hit their box as much as possible with direct balls. Force more mistakes Spot on. Sutton is causing them no end of problems, we need to involve him more and get that second goal because I can't see us keeping a clean sheet. TopCat
Ooof let off there. Morton hit the underside of the bar and somehow miss the rebound from 6 yards out.
Bart Simpson
Spot on. Sutton is causing them no end of problems, we need to involve him more and get that second goal because I can't see us keeping a clean sheet. We were trying to do that early on and missing him every time. As long as the midfield stop being lackadaisical and sloppy with occasional passes there is nothing wrong with playing football. Our best chances have come from that with 3 fantastic balls in from Naismith and the cross from Morgan leading to the corner... If the back 4 can hit Sutton in the second half then I agree with safety first...when needed. You can see why Morton are where they are in the league. Physical and niggly. We need another goal for some daylight. Thankfully Willie Collum isn't the ref today with the rain.
the barrhead teacher
Great goal but probably lucky to be winning. Giving them too many set pieces. Some good moments but need better crosses. Giving the ball away a lot and will pay if we don't cut this out and need to make better decisions with final ball. Good atmosphere. TopCat
HT 1-0Been an even game really hampered by terrible conditions. The difference was a quite strange goal. We had a corner and McKenzie strolled into the box unmarked and stood on the penalty spot. Mallan spotted him and pinged it on his head and he headed it in with no Morton player near him. Happy new year.Morton should have equalised just on half time there. Hit the bar with a header and I have no idea how the rebound never went in.We need that second goal. Drew
50/50 game. Plenty happening, and the conditions mean it is very open. I can't see it finishing with the scoreline as it is. We do need to close them down quicker in central and wide areas. Giving them too much time on the ball. Decent enough game given the weather. f**king Dumbarton, though....
