Eric Arthur Blair
The SFA sweep it all under the carpet SFA say no disciplinary action against Rangers. Quote Scottish FA statement on Supreme Court ruling Wednesday, 05 July 2017 The Board of the Scottish FA notes the judgment of the Supreme Court and wishes to clarify the implications of this final legal decision from a football regulatory perspective. In light of the Inner House of the Court of Session decision, the Board of the Scottish FA sought external senior counsel opinion to ensure a robust and independent consideration of all implications of today’s judgment. The Board received written advice from Senior Counsel, amplified when the QC attended a full meeting of the Board to discuss his conclusions. Specifically, Senior Counsel was asked to anticipate whether a determination in favour of HMRC, as announced today, could imply that there had been a breach of the Scottish FA’s Disciplinary Rules as they applied at the time of the EBT payments. The clear opinion of Senior Counsel is that there is a very limited chance of the Scottish FA succeeding in relation to any complaint regarding this matter and that, even if successful, any sanctions available to a Judicial Panel would also be limited in their scope. Accordingly, having had time to consider the opinion from Senior Counsel, and having examined the judgment of the UK Supreme Court, the Board has determined that no further disciplinary action should be taken by the Scottish FA at this time. HSS
The SFA have said that no action to be taken against the oldco. This is so wrong and must be rectified.
melmac
If they claim they are the same club who has all these titles, then by extension, they must be capable of being punished; if not the same club, then no punishment. They should be careful as to who they hold themselves to now be.

Whether retrospective action is taken against the deadco is probably down solely to one thing - how highly does Peter Lawell value his windows, does he fancy sectarian graffiti on his front door, and does he fancy the prospect of being confronted in town by any pissed-up Orc who clocks him and recognises him. If he's going to put that shit aside he might go after them if he really does want it that badly. Frankly, no-one else will give a fcuk and will look the other way. The quandary SFA now find themselves in is that THEY assisted Rangers to cheat and accepted their lies about complying with UEFA's financial rules. The SFA... (led by someone called Ogilvie at the time - a Real Ranjurs Man, who got an EBT - no doubt for services rendered.... ahem.)... were well aware that Rangers had outstanding debts due to HMRC and that there was trouble looming - just like the Wee Tax Case which they admitted to - so turned blind eyes in order to assist Rangers win a European trophy and garner loadsa money en route. Shame about the wee gardener, mind. It was such a cunning plan, otherwise... I sincerely doubt that Scottish fitba will be the only sphere of 'sport' on the planet, in which cheats don't get punished and unfairly gained titles etc removed. If nothing else - Celtic had a duty to their shareholders to maximise returns. If the directors and board of Celtic seem happy to accept the cheating - increasingly doubt that their shareholding fans shall. And they can hold their directors to account. ETA: JUST FOUND THE FOLLOWING - about Celtic's potential interest: WE note today’s decision by the Supreme Court. Celtic’s position on this issue has been consistent – that this has always been a matter for the courts of law and also the Scottish football authorities, whose rules are intended to uphold sporting integrity. In 2013, we expressed surprise – shared by many observers and supporters of the game – over the findings of the SPL Commission that no competitive or sporting advantage had resulted. Today’s decision only re-affirms that view. We are sure now that the footballing authorities in Scotland will wish to review this matter. Celtic awaits the outcome of their review. http://www.celticfc.net/news/12873 Edited July 5, 2017 by antrin

bazil85
2006 – Juventus stripped of two titles and relegated to Serie B for game rigging 2011 – Sion thrown out of Europa league for fielding ineligible players. 2014 – Legia Warsaw given a 0-3 penalty score for fielding an ineligible player for four minutes in the Champions league. Dundee, Livingston Gretna, Rangers – 10 point penalty for entering administration. Rangers pay more than £47 Million illegally to players and coaching staff that had a direct impact on the performance of the club over a nine year period – No repercussions against their ‘achievements’ at all during this time! Sporting integrity completely out the window and disregarded. Scottish football has been on its knees for years and slowly getting worse. This will be looked back on as one of the main incidents that destroys any credibility Scottish football, the SFA and the SPFL have left. Seaside Nipper
Scottish football like most other large sporting entities and organisations is essentially complicit in bending rules, turning a blind eye allowing charges or hypocrisy to be levelled against it, cos, basically its bent. U.K. Athletics, UK cycling, FIFA, UEFA, Referees Associations............It's all Vested interests and smoke filled rooms that rule. Fans pay to spectate and are mere gate fodder, as once infamously referred by a former Newcastle director.Rage and express outrage, but ultimately its lawyers who gain, everyone else melts away. Unless of course you are an obsessed Sellic [emoji1]

U.K. Athletics, UK cycling, FIFA, UEFA, Referees Associations Athletics, cycling and other fitba bodies HAVE all stripped titles and published lists showing where and who did the cheating. ONLY Scottish fitba is so criminally insane as to imagine that it's ok to gift the cheating history of a DEID entity to a wholly new, bought-off-the-shelf-by-Charles-Green club. Rage and express outrage, but ultimately its lawyers who gain, everyone else melts away. Unless of course you are an obsessed Sellic or unless, of course, you don't like being off-handedly taken for a mug just cos you support a diddy club. You should be raging, too. So should those managing all other clubs - including Saints. Although I suppose the SFA money coming in for hosting U20 and women's internationals is the cheap price for Buddies souls? things won't change if honest men stay silent. Seaside Nipper
I get that. But to what end though where does it stop ? Should St mirren make a case against Falkirk when they fannied around for seasons and paid wages to gain a sporting advantage instead of complying with rule changes as St mirren went on to develop compliant stadia and heating systems and put themselves deep in the financial doo doo. It's all just degrees of cheating.
antrin
Well... I know I've gone on and on about it on here for years... And that there are plenty who go la-la-la-la-la and skim past it, but at last there's a chance for Scottish fitba to set its house in order. It WILL happen. Those titles WILL be stripped or asterisked. regan, Doncaster and especially Ogilvie have been complicit in the biggest sporting fraud in British history - a fraud that assumed every other Scots fitba fan was too dumb and too supine to challenge. THEY are the Peepul, after all. Falkirk, like the DEID club, eventually fell on their own sharpened sword. They had a two-sided stadium eventually, that had to be bought as a business by the local authority and it's been out of the top division ever since. Cheating doesn't pay. Ever. That's why the law caught up with those cheats yesterday, but transparency and removal of 14 titles/cups is the natural follow-on, natural justice. sevco fans are welcome to 'believe' that their history IS a long one going back to the 1800s, but real history tells a different, honest story. All other fans can point and laugh, cos - remember - they also 'believe' THEY are the peepul. and, by the way, the financial stripping of funds from the peepul is not yet finished. The peepul are now buying the old strips that they'd been boycotting, they have bought more season tickets, yet they're told the club is surviving through fresh loans IN JUNE - just after the season ticket money rolled in! luckily, they have bought in a string of superstars recently... As we all saw in Luxembourg....
