St.Ricky

St Mirren v Aberdeen 12.30 26 1 2020

Recommended Posts

O v O and no disaster.. There was a time when a draw with the Dons was a great result but they are a shadow of the team they had back then.

Still where we are right now, it was still a decent point. AND a clear sheet with the 2 new CB's playing and without a number of other players being available.

For us Foley, McCarthy and Flynn were top notch and  others gave their all  MacPherson, Morias. and Famewo played well too and looked pretty solid !

We have gained a point on Hamilton (plus 2 on GD) and Hearts (unless the later pick up something later today)

We gained a point on Killie (plus 1 goal on GD) and RC (plus +3 goals in GD)

But lost 2 points to the Fakes. We need to take something from t.he Hibs game while they have players missing from the heart of their defence ! And Killie /Rc  and Fakes/Hearts are clearly going to take something.. Need to keep Boyle, Kamberi and Doige tight and quiet though !

All in all not a bad weekends results !

RC and the Fakes to get a pounding in midweek - then we rise !

Some tremendous individual performances. Ryan Flynn just gets better and better.

A patchy game from both teams but with some good individual performances. We created fewer but better chances. Arguably, Obika should have scored, Durmas came close to scoring a great goal coming in from the left.

We were in the main stand and all the booing seemed to be coming from the Aberdeen fans at the end. There were a few chants of "Derek, Derek, Get tae f*ck" earlier on as well.

Agreed. Folk booing a point against Aberdeen is a disgrace.

The Aberdeen forum is an unhappy place, mostly aimed at their manager.

Fed up with his long ball tactics and negative approach.

I thought he played it well today.

Very happy. If we had Cosgrove we would be top 6. Jim doing fine job. Sevco Dons and 1 goal conceded. Centre halfs played well and we have a gem on Connor. And he has pace. Just need Hearst thrashed for great weekend

Yes a good point they all count to keep us out of harms way

It’s young women we need keeping out of harm’s way of the forum fool.

A welcome point on the board today, couple of new additions to the squad & hopefully many more points on the board.

Well, we're not Barcelona that's for sure. You can tell Jim works closely with Gus MacPherson - and it'll work, we'll stay in the league just like we did under Gus all those years.

10 years this year since Gus got punted as the club tried to "move to the next level"... if we stay up this year I wonder what the next level up is.

Onto the game, McCarthy is a find... Watching that game if you were told one CB came from LOI and one from Norwich you'd probably guess wrong.

Shame to see Paul McGinn go, he's one of our best performers every week in whatever position he's asked. Like Hladky he's worth more keeping him for 6 months for free than a measly 5 figure sum just now.

Midfield it's hard to comment on, both midfields spent 90 mins challenging 50/50s and watching the ball sail over their head. Durmus provided moments of spark we sadly lack.

Upfront as usual we are toothless and can't make the ball stick. I don't like to see individuals getting stick and not all strikers are there to score goals, some are there to link play, win headers, drag defenders out of position, etc... but when you can't do any of that or finish the 1 chance you get then questions should be getting asked.

Aye, the next level, although our highest league position was better than Gus had achieved.

Throw in a league cup win and not a bad move IMO.

Certainly, I was a big fan of Lennon as our manager.

My point was it's interesting we've came full circle in a sense.

Aye, but that "next level" stuff was never ending.

Anyhow, as you say, full circle, and now is now. :thumbs2

PS When will we get to the next level...........................start a thread.
