norrie82
Danny says he knows how Inverness play? Wtf! Why say that. I bet you Inverness will know how we play considering we have one striker and one striker only. We only beat Stockport late on and lost 4 to a Charlton side that then lost at home to caley. Bookies have them heavy faves but I think we may draw
pozbaird
Christ almighty, I think we need another striker as much as the next man, but how many people are going to continue posting that we are going into the season with one striker. Is it trolling? Blindness? Stupidity? Still drunk from last night? St Mirren FC have Thompson, Reilly and Brady. We do not have one striker, we have three. FFS. In mine Reilly is more a midfield player playing off the forward line than an out and out striker. Brady i take your word on it as he has hardly played pre-season. The point is if Thommo gets injured today early doors what options do we have

I definitely think we are fooked if Thommo' gets crocked, and having lost Parkin and Guy, we desperately need support for Thommo' but Reilly and Brady are St Mirren players - we could argue about their 'best position' all day. Gie's a signing!

JJ McG
I just don't understand why we have let lots of players go and not replaced them. Its a recipe for disaster, I just cannot understand why we have left ourselves so short. I'm starting to fear the worst. Its madness kendo, i fear the worst also. BuddieinEK
Both Partick and Dundee United went with a lone striker last night. I reckon most SPFL teams will do the same this season. Kemp
Darren McGregor? The options are Reilly and Brady, it is not an opinon, they are strikers. Hopefully Campbell is on his way. I dont think waiting another week to get someone of his quality is a problem. Thompson isnae injured. This is now pre emptive knicker wetting! Hambud
Or maybe it was the fact that he's playing against a team of International standard players for the first time in his career and found things heavy going like most of our players? Give the man a break. he said recently that he'd played against Messi. Not that I'm having a go at him just pointing out the flaw in your statement

Douglas McNeil @DouglasMcNeil 21s Newcastle midfielder @Conor_Newton1 has agreed to rejoin St Mirren on loan. Club still working on Adam Campbell. Other clubs interested! davidg
Since this article we've made 2 of the best signings in the league. Hopefully Campbell will follow and make it 3. Edited August 6, 2013 by davidg
JJ McG
The signing of Grainger and Newton are 2 very good bits of business, both would walk into most spl teams.
BIG BEN
I hope Campbell or any other potential signing doesn't read the many negative comments on here or it may dissuade them! GlenburnSaint
I cant remember our league position in 1964, 2002, 1993 or just about any other year I remember that St Mirren, who almost folded a few short years ago won the league cup this year, scottish cup in 1959 and 1987, they won the anglo scottish cup in 1980, won the first division in 1977, 2000 and several other years and many other great achievements by our small club. Ask Andy Murray, Jack Nicklaus or anyone else if it's more important to be high in the rankings than it is to win trophys and medals. They know what people are remembered for. The league Cup win was not a mask for other failures, it was a massive achievement in it's own right by our CLUB that will be recalled by people who will never be able to tell you how many times ICT finished higher than SMFC in the 21st century. To try and dismiss and belittle that achievement is to show yourself up as petty and mean-minded. I agree that trophies and sucess are more important and give greater memories than rankings but i dont give a shit where we rank in the spl as long as we stay in it. My post indicated the fear of one year the way we operate may not pay off and next year the 1st division will be a tough league so i think its a valid statement to say that had it not been for 2 factors, 1 of which being the cup win then it would have been a massive dissapointment. And st johnstone are having a memorable time already with no trophies. Maybe im dreaming of a euro presence one day! Please please please. saints0
You have lost me, do you not rate them? i rate them but grainger hasnt played for a year and the legend Newton was part of the team that hit the giddy heights of 11th in the spl ,with him or without him we are still honking and NEITHER of them would WALK into another spl team, they would earn that right and it would be far from guaranteed.Maybe Danny has two cracking strikers lined up and then we can find out how good a midfield we have ,when they actually have mobile strikers to feed as opposed to a plank of wood going through the motions ,until then lets keep things in perspective
saints0
You have lost me, do you not rate them? I would also add that in my humble opinion,if we had a potent goal threat, say two young mobile potent strikers, the ball would not keep coming back at us so often and our defence would not appear nearly as bad
