Mid Calder Saint
Makes sense. Brian has been training with Well. However due to their financial/managerial situation they probably can't offer a deal.

Saint Garf
McLean wouldn't be my first choice, or my 2nd, 3rd or 4th for that matter. But it's good to know we're at least in the market for a centre half

JJ McG
Brian McLean is garbage, if we sign him it will be more wasted money that could of went towards bringing in a manager that know's what he is doing.
Frank McGarvey' wonky legs
Is there more to the Plummer situation than we are being told? Was due back many weeks ago and now we are signing a centre half?

Frank McGarvey' wonky legs
Fits the profile of a Saints defender in the picture above. Yard off his man and lets he striker score.
TediousTom
That is indeed Brian McLean formerly of Motherwell of Lanarkshire footballing club. He was a decent player several years back and I distinctly recall a story whereby a Mr Angus McPherson made attempts to sign said Brian McLean but alas was unsuccessful in his endeavours, unsuccessful indeed. I see the forum has thrown up a plethora of footballing experts who are able to judge accurately the abilities of Mr Brian McLean without seeing him play. Why did we bother with a trial....Tommy should have just started a thread on here!!!!
Mid Calder Saint
He would be good centre back cover and is vastly experienced. He only left County due to a fallout with Mr Adams. He since trained with Coventry and more recently with Well. All his previous managers at Rangers Well Falkirk Dundee Utd cannot be wrong about his ability. If he signs we have to give him our support. TopCat
Played over 100 games at our level and only 29. Would be a decent addition to the squad.
Bud the Baker
Who do the naysayers want? I'll admit the prospect of him signing doesn't give me a stiffy or even a semi but like it or not he's our sorta player - cheap & (hopefully) cheerful. aldo_j
A United supporting mate told me he was worse than current Carnoustie centre-back, Gary Kenneth. Make of that what you will....

Kenneth was excellent for United. He won the Scottish Cup and was capped for Scotland in his time there. His career has went to hell since he left certainly. His career has went to hell since he left certainly. From a former manager I spoke to it is basically that Kenneth's legs are completely done and he has very limited mobility. From what I remember about Maclean he was quite injury prone also. Can't really remember to much about him playing wise... kind of meh in thet he never stood out one way or other. He will fit well here , we must have space for him on our injury list .

His career has went to hell since he left certainly. I'm only going on what my mate said. I think Kenneth was on the slide dramatically in the 18 months before he left United and has got nowhere since. Anyway, I've not seen many ringing endorsements on McLean from County fans on PnB either....
SuperSaints 12
Heard that McLean turned up for training today but left as he was offered crap wages. Appartently Thistle bound.

Can't really remember to much about him playing wise... kind of meh in thet he never stood out one way or other. Suffered a serious injury while playing for 'Well in 2008 but started 67 out of 74 league games in two seasons for Falkirk between 2009 & 2011 - he's not appeared so regularly since but whether that's due to form or time cathching up with him - who knows? Of more concern to me would be that he has not completed any of his last three contracts citing not being able to put up with Derek Adams as the reason for leaving the last one with Ross County. Anyway, I've not seen many ringing endorsements on McLean from County fans on PnB either.... IMO that's a pretty weak argument. **************** Not saying we should sign him as there's clearly plenty of reasons not to but he's the sorta player who's (presumably) within our price range (although even as I type not according to SuperSaints 12 ) - more likely to be a miss than a hit but in the absynthe of good options sometimes you have to go for the least bad one. As an afterthought if we're looking for a song to run out to how about Rocky Mountain Way by Joe Walsh............
