Liverpool Bud
Ginger cup winning goal scoring hero had been told he is surplus to requirements at Rotherham - could be our player of the year in the Championship! Just a thought!
JJ McG
Sadly not a chance he'll come to us in the championship, will have offers from bigger clubs than us.
magnus
Sadly not a chance he'll come to us in the championship, will have offers from bigger clubs than us. Smashing player. Could build a team round him. Wonder if a 100 or so of us could chip in something a month to help the club afford him?
mad saint 2
we have owners that need too chip in dont start giving them ideas get us to pay players plus get in to games what next get us to start cutting grass ,doing up stadium or maybe one of us be manager like carver at newcastle there f....ked as well
TopCat
Definitely missed him badly this season. He's not good enough for the English Championship but he's more than good enough for our league. Guess he will get another club in League 1 or 2 in England no problem.
pozbaird
Wonder if the manager called him into the office by shouting NEWTONNNNN!
Stu
More likely he said: "Look forward to League One, son, and keep your trap shut."
ulysses
Would love to see him back, but doubt it. He'll get a Premiership club no bother.
Stevie88
Couldn't see him coming back if we were in the premiership next season the fact we will be playing in the championship there's no way he would come/afford him.
nedflanders123
He has not been released. He is transfer listed so likely to incur a transfer fee.
Mearns Saint
I liked Newton but he was mainly honking in his second season with us and most folk thought he was only getting a game because of a clause in the loan deal. Would still give him a shot though after his performances in his first stint
Kemp
Exactly. Some very selective memories on here! He was pretty poor in his second season.
Frank McGarvey' wonky legs
Exactly. Some very selective memories on here! He was pretty poor in his second season. A lot of that was down to where he was playing, mainly wide right, always thought he was more effective as a defensive midfielder closing down players getting close to the opposition (like Jim Goodwin with legs and without the fouls). Lizard King
Has Newton significantly improved during his time on Rotherhams treatment table/subs bench? I thought he was a very average player when he was here. Wouldn't be falling over myself to bring him back (not that he would come anyway). magnus
Exactly. Some very selective memories on here! He was pretty poor in his second season. I think we redefined poor, average and honking this season. Newton is like Pirlo compared to our lot.
The Original 59er
Magnus Posted 06 May 2015 - 10:16 "Newton is like Pirlo compared to our lot." Personally I thought Pirlo was pretty non-effectual the other night for Juventus.............................. maybe that's what he meant! Hambud
Newton was a great player in my opinion, a lot of people turned on him last season, in the same way they did on McLean, Gowser, Danny Lennon, Cheesy. I would take any of them back. The problem with Newton was the rumours about us being forced to play him or pay stupid amounts of money. I liked him, good footballer in my opinion. proudtobeabuddy
Newton would be a great addition and would show the fans that the board are actually serious about coming straight back up.
Rabinho
Absolutely no chance we could afford his wages, even less chance as a Championship club.

Deekthebuddie
I liked Newton, although he didnt perform quite as well in his second season. Him and Isma back would be good. Well, we can dream I suppose
