I think the manager might well have two lists, one based on UEFA conf section qualification and the other based on the usual kind of season.

If we get to the group stage then I would hope there would be a one or two signings with a clear uptick in quality.

Top 6 status might be hard to maintain if McInnes can get Killie into the group stages and we don't make it.  That being said, I don't expect either side to get that far this season.

I see we're rumoured , along with Aberdeen and some English clubs , to be interested in Sidibeh of St Johnstone. Unlikely we would get him , but I think it shows the realisation within the club that we're going to have to bring in more players of a decent level if we want to maintain top six status !

I don’t think it shows anything from within the club to be honest Billy. It’s a made up rumour from a pretend ITK page that’s just picked our name out of the sky.

Maybe , but  I would really hope that those "within" the club do see that we're nowhere near where we were last season , with this squad I think Top 6 would be out of our reach !

I have to agree.

I've seen lots of people saying we've better squad than last year. I'm just not seeing it.

Plus the opposition has improved somewhat.

Think we've got a long season ahead of us unless we make a couple of quality signings.

I think it's both these things to be honest 

I believe our squad has absolutely  improved - but it's also true that other teams who finished below us and around us  have spent substantial sums of money on players this season 

Aberdeen and Hibs you wouldn't expect to both be that bad again 

So, we could absolutely have a better team - that doesn't mean it will see us top 6 🤷
