You should have your players in place for pre-season....not still looking around for players..shows u have missed your targeted players and now scraping around for the dross that's left...

But what if, during July, a top player becomes available? You've got all your singings in place and no space to get him in.

that would obviously be worth looking at but the majority of your players should be in place for pre-season so u can mould your squad...fact is we have 2 unproven strikers brought in and a kid at centre back...so far the signings are questionable and some quality and experience needs to be brought in asap...

It's also quite possible that we've been in negotiations with players and we're still waiting on their answer.

Maybe one or two of them are our prime targets and the management team deem them worthwhile waiting for.

Not ideal, but it's sometimes the situation a club like us finds themselves in when we go for quality or experience.

I'd say Marwood has a bit more of a pedigree than "unproven striker," and looking at him I think he's been better than some of the names given on here. eg McFadden, Clarkson and Keetings.

The Kid seemed to do ok at CB against the blue brazil, and the trialist for did not do enough to justify a deal. We looked We saw We told him to feck of.

What if it simply illustrates how our end of the market has changed in recent years, where players want to wait as long as possible to see what deal their agents can get for them?

Nobody to blame for that though so it probably won't work.

Personally i am dreading the new season with the squad we have...cheesy as first choice centre back is a nightmare...untried kid beside him...no right midfield..two untried strikers and an ageing striker...really need to bolster the squad with two experienced decent centre back's, right mid and further striker..if not we have relegation written all over us..

how does Marwood have a bit more pedigree than unproven striker? 12 goals in 80 odd games against 2nd rate teams. Lad is totally untested....

To be fair our immediate competitors haven't signed any tried and tested strikers.

So, it would appear that we're all in the same boat.

He has one full season in Conferance as a striker and scored goals. That qualifies as tried and proven at that level, showed promise and is now making a step up.

Caldwell is an uproven striker, but with potential

It's amazing we can manage the 7th best defence in the league, when we had 3 keepers who played more than 5 games for us, we predominantly started with 2 full backs in their first senior season and we need 2 new centre backs too!

How exactly did we do it?

By having 4 midfielders playing in front of them and therefore sacrificing the goal threat.

A team needs balance and every man has to do thier own job and not be a passenger.

Regardless of whether you think our squad is shite or good, if you're dreading the start of the new season in July, then I don't think football's your thing.

Find something you want to do instead of following something you dread.
