Murray7 Posted January 12, 2014 Report Posted January 12, 2014 http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/25657690 Well deserved Quote
Dave The Buddie Posted January 12, 2014 Report Posted January 12, 2014 Fantastic achievement and thoroughly deserved. I know we have produced some decent youngsters over the last couple of seasons but McGinn is the only one who I believe has the the ability to play in any of the top leagues in the world Quote
Sonny Posted January 12, 2014 Report Posted January 12, 2014 Maybe Danny is just protecting John but when he raves about other players being worth millions who are not half as good as this lad I begin to wonder. John McGinn is the best young talent I have seen at the Club in many, many years. Quote
Lex Posted January 12, 2014 Report Posted January 12, 2014 He's only just turned 19, but I already think he's our best player. He's certainly the best teenager I've ever seen play for us. Quote
spoogy1 Posted January 12, 2014 Report Posted January 12, 2014 Well done youngster well deserved. Think Mr Lennon will be upset that none off his players got it. Quote
billyg Posted January 12, 2014 Report Posted January 12, 2014 (edited) He's only just turned 19, but I already think he's our best player. He's certainly the best teenager I've ever seen play for us. Certainly in the past 25 years ,although it's a tough call for me considering Iain Munro , Bobby McKean , Ally McLeod , Gordon McQueen and Ian Ferguson etc Edited January 12, 2014 by billyg Quote
windae cleaner Posted January 12, 2014 Report Posted January 12, 2014 Certainly in the past 25 years ,although it's a tough call for me considering Iain Munro , Bobby McKean , Ally McLeod , Gordon McQueen and Ian Ferguson etc Same here Billy. Stevie Clarke,Paul Lambert,Ian Cameron and even David Winnie were regular players in their teens. We need players in to give young McGinn and Thommo a hand They are carrying the team Quote
Callum Gilhooley Posted January 12, 2014 Report Posted January 12, 2014 He has the ability , he knows how to graft, but what does it for me is his confidence. Well done John. Quote
Seaside Nipper Posted January 12, 2014 Report Posted January 12, 2014 His best attribute, his attitude. This allied to his football brain and ability makes him a superb player who we must make the most of while we have him. Quote
aber 87 Posted January 12, 2014 Report Posted January 12, 2014 If the rest of the squad worked as hard as John does in games we would be comfortably in the top 6 at the moment. Take note Gary Harkins!!!! Quote
TsuMirren Posted January 12, 2014 Report Posted January 12, 2014 Excellent player, I believe he started as a left back and you can see the defensive positioning still there. His play in midfield is great and at times he comes out of challenges/situations like a surfer through a crashing wave and you just watch in awe. Quote
djchapsticks Posted January 12, 2014 Report Posted January 12, 2014 (edited) Excellent player, I believe he started as a left back and you can see the defensive positioning still there. His play in midfield is great and at times he comes out of challenges/situations like a surfer through a crashing wave and you just watch in awe. For a young fellow who is predominantly a creative midfielder, his ability in the tackle and his ratio of winning them cleanly is astoundingly good. His strength on the ball and tenacity will take him a very long way. I appreciate every time I watch him. An absolute diamond. We'd better be well compensated when he does move on, as I genuinely believe the move he makes after his next club will be a multi-million pound one. As do I believe that he'll be a Scotland mainstay his entire career. Edited January 12, 2014 by djchapsticks Quote
Bud the Baker Posted January 12, 2014 Report Posted January 12, 2014 (edited) Delighted for the player - totally deserved. We are an unfashionable club and our players are not always given the credit they deserve. Like McCarthy at Hamilton we must get a sell-on clause as part of any transfer deal. santaponsasaint Posted January 12, 2014 Report Posted January 12, 2014 Absolutely deserved this award, Its a disgrace he has not been selected for the Scotland u21 squads, Stark must be walking around with his eyes shut, Quote
Rabinho Posted January 12, 2014 Report Posted January 12, 2014 Brilliant news for John and some long overdue recognition for the lad. Best player on our books by far, an absolute joy to watch due to his skill and attitude. Quote
stlucifer Posted January 12, 2014 Report Posted January 12, 2014 Well deserved. I've said from almost the first time I saw the lad we had something special. About time the outside world sat up and took notice. Quote
Greenhill Road Posted January 12, 2014 Report Posted January 12, 2014 IMO, Best young player I've seen in saints strip since Ian Ferguson, great strength and attitude. Hopefully we keep a hold of him and we will be ok this season. Quote
JJ McG Posted January 12, 2014 Report Posted January 12, 2014 If we were to lose John McGinn this window we would be in deep deep shit! Quote
Mr Zo Posted January 19, 2014 Report Posted January 19, 2014 Well done John! Let's just hope we don't lose him before the end of January. A brilliant young talent as the highlights showed again in yesterday's game. Quote
JM1 Posted January 19, 2014 Report Posted January 19, 2014 Best player in the squad and one of the best young players in the country. What a guy. Quote
davidg Posted January 19, 2014 Report Posted January 19, 2014 Potentially player of the year for Saints. Quote
JJ McG Posted January 19, 2014 Report Posted January 19, 2014 Potentially player of the year for Saints. Got to get him tied up on a longer contract so we get decent coin for him if he leaves. Quote
Drew Posted January 19, 2014 Report Posted January 19, 2014 (edited) I'd give it to him right now. There isn't really any competition. He is a class act. A fantastic talent. ETA: meant to quote David from above re player of the year. Edited January 19, 2014 by Drew Quote
Drew Posted January 19, 2014 Report Posted January 19, 2014 (edited) The view of a Hibs fan on P&B: John McGinn made Scott Robertson look like a lost wee boy all afternoon and bullied him on several occasions We've got a genuine gem in McGinn, and it isn't going un-noticed. Fingers crossed we can hang onto him a bit longer. Edited January 19, 2014 by Drew Quote
Seaside Nipper Posted January 19, 2014 Report Posted January 19, 2014 John McGinn is a natural talent , good vision of the game and has no little steel about him. Better than his big bro for certain. Quote
