DUFC V Saints Xmas eve

Oh well.

We were always losing this of course. That's why the game against Ayr last week was a must win, and the failure to get the 3 points there has really hurt us.

That's two weeks in a row that Dumbarton have stretched the gap between us and them, and we have lost ground to Ayr over the last seven days despite playing them at home. It goes without saying that this is desperate stuff, particularly as we had apparently turned the corner before the Ayr match

0.7 points per game average for Ross now in his first ten league games, an absolutely abysmal return. Stone cold relegation form. Infact that's not just relegation form, that's relegated by Easter form.

Need to beat Morton on Saturday.

Watched the game on a poor internet connection in Lewis but saw enough to confirm that the corner has been turned - what an improvement in performance from Rae's time in charge.

Whether we have turned the corner in time is another matter.

TC's usual rant against Ross cannot be justified in the real world.

One tangible positive today was the continued goal scoring form of big John Sutton.

We lacked a 15-20 goal striker last season, we have one now. That's us half way through the season and he's got 9 goals. Well on target, and the kind of goal return you'd expect from a striker of his quality.

What makes it even more impressive is that he's headed for a 15-20 goal season despite being repeatedly and inexplicably dropped by both Ross and Rae in favour of strikers who don't score. Last week at home to Ayr being the most recent example.

That simply needs to stop if we are going to have any chance of staying up. John Sutton must play every single minute of every single game between now and May.

In the real world he has 7 points from 10 games. In those 10 games we have played the 3 teams directly above us at home, and won none of them.

Good enough?

The results have been disappointing but perhaps you have forgotten just how bad we really were. We matched Dundee United for most of today's game but just did not enjoy the rub of the green as happens to teams in our position.

If we persevere and keep the faith we will achieve the great escape but we will have to pick up the points soon.

Still remember people backing Shankland over Sutton in the summer with their "feed the Shanks" pish and calling Sutton lazy.

By far and away one of our hardest working players. No idea why he has spent a single minute warming our bench this year.

I was hoping to have a good transfer window, but it looks like we are stuck with one or two players who are

a waste of rations and will just be drawing a wage not giving a shit about our club, I would like to get these

wasters away.

I'm getting a bit bored of this positives despite losing spiel. I heard the same lines when Dundee United beat us in Paisley in October in Jacks first match in charge, then we lost 6 of the next 9 games. We need points not intangible positives.

Today's result isn't the problem of course, we can't expect to get anything in Dundee. The problem is our points return from the last 10 games, our failure to beat any of our closest rivals at home in that period and the fact we are further away from safety now than we were when Ross was appointed.

Under Ross, Sutton's been good for us when given the chance. I didn't think Rae should have signed him but that was to do with having already signed Clarkson and having Shankland. It was about balancing the squad. I stand by that as who knows what another good defensive midfielder might have made of our results. We have what we have and John has contributed well. In fact he has upped his workrate in recent games.

I get a horrible nagging feeling that we could be sitting here in May, saying 'we played well shame about the result', then look at the table and say 'fcuk sake, we're down, how did that happen when we were better than we were under Rae / Murray / Teale'.

Worried. Would love us to be playing shite and winning 1-0 with a smash and grab. Couldn't beat ten men Ayr at home, took the lead today and lost. All the 'improved performances' won't matter come May. We lost ground again today to both Ayr and Dumbarton.

I have a bad feeling about this.

Remarkably his contract was renewed in the summer by Rae and it will be up at the end of the season, he's this years Alan Gow. Just like the re-signing of him contributed to Murray losing his job, so the decision to re-sign Clarkson was a factor in Rae losing his job.

Still surprised to see him getting game time under Ross but hey ho. Watch this he will score a brace now and we will win 3-2.

Alan Gow started one league game in all of last season and was taken off at half time in it. Clarkson is nowhere near Alan Gow's level of uselessness. Gow was Murray's first signing and signed when he had a known knee injury and remained injured for most of the season.

Hold on, your point that Clarkson is better than Gow is that he's played more? Eh?

If anything that can be used the other way. Yes Gow was hopeless and never scored a single league goal in his whole time here. He never played much though. What's Clarksons excuse for one league goal in nearly a year at the club, and none in the last nine months? He's featured most weeks since he arrived, whether starting or from the bench, he hasn't spent any length of time injured. Why over 20 league appearances without a single goal? He's a forward supposedly.

Like Gow he's a washed up dud who's well past it. Like Gow he should never have been signed in the first place by a previous manager, like Gow he should never have had his contract renewed by a new manager. He's very much this seasons version of him, the only difference is that he plays more and as such is having even more of a negative impact.

Agree totally

Improved performances meant feck all we need points

We can't seem to dig out results even playing decent

Dumbarton beat an in form Falkirk

Raith picked up a point today at Easter Road

But it seems acceptable to lose but we are improving on here

No use in our dire position

Btw did Baird get sent off again today?
