He probably is. He helped bring some atmosphere to a pretty dire home support to the point that Jack Ross made the players have a whip round to help fund the group.

I don't know why people find it difficult to credit W7 with improving the matchday atmosphere through the noise and colour they bring to our own and other grounds we visit.  A number of us have actively supported the group. Maybe also the players.  I hope they thrive and prosper.  This doesn't provide a mandate to ignore requests from the board,  stewards or police, each of whom have duties of care. It doesn't extend to fighting with opposing supporters. The remedy is simple and in the hands of those in W7. Behave and respect the rules.  Let other supporters suffer the approbrium they deserve for not doing so and let others look to th  club and our fans as an example of good practice at games,  travelling and online. As to the lad himself. He seems keen but misguided.

Change the record please Richard. This is not about one person.

Mattman. You pick out one short sentence.  The pity for the group in W7 is exactly that.  The focus has been allowed to be on one individual.  No need.  If the rest act as requested then let him be hung out to dry if necessary should he not conform to what is requested of him.  If he has any sense,  and I'm absolutely sure that he is nobody's fool then he will,  if not for his own sake,  then for that of the group. I hope he will.  The club does have the right to refuse entry to any of us.

Surely it's time to leave the juvenile nonsense behind and get back to what the lads were doing really well and that is brightening up match days.

Club Statement on Fans

We are fortunate to have a very loyal support who travel up and down the country following the team through thick and thin and, as we have previously stated, this is never taken for granted and is much appreciated by everyone connected with St Mirren.

This season the police have been in dialogue with us over some incidents and behaviour that has taken place predominantly at away games. This relates to a very small number of fans, however, it goes without saying that this negatively affects the reputation of the support as a whole.

Amongst other things this has involved the setting off of flares, fireworks and smoke bombs, organising fights with opposition supporters and vandalism of public property. These are very serious allegations and seriously tarnish our club’s reputation.

While the aforementioned are primarily a police issue we are now also seeing instances of this unacceptable behaviour appearing at our home fixtures.

On Saturday a Dundee Utd supporter suffered a serious head injury after the away crowd surged forward after United’s first goal. This is something we have warned our own support against on numerous occasions so hopefully this will make people realise how dangerous this can be.

Given the seriousness of the injury the decision was taken to remove the fan by the quickest means possible which was through the vomitory at W7.

While the unconscious supporter was being removed there were numerous people standing above the vomitory who decided to spit and throw coins at him.

This is completely and utterly unacceptable. We cannot allow the actions of a very small number of fans to ruin the reputation of St Mirren Football Club.

Some of the people responsible were identified but unfortunately the quality of the CCTV footage of the incident is such that at this time we are unable to pursue this to the degree of certainty that would allow prosecution.

If we are able to clearly identify the culprits, regardless of what happens in a legal sense, they will be given a lifetime ban from our stadium.

We would ask anyone with any information or footage of the incident to contact the club on [email protected].

Any information provided will be treated in the strictest confidence.

Everyone connected with the club fully acknowledges the fantastic contribution the W7 group have made to improving the atmosphere at the stadium. Whilst we want to nurture and support the fans in that area of the stadium we are also duty bound to apply the same rules that cover all other areas of all other stands.

For the avoidance of any doubt antisocial behaviour will not be tolerated in ANY area of our stadium.

There has been much comment on social media over the weekend regarding all of the above but that is not the place we should be having these conversations especially when people are not aware of all the facts and individuals can twist the truth without the risk of being held accountable for their words.

As a result of this ongoing situation we have asked local MSP George Adam to arrange a meeting with the police, the club and relevant fan groups to try and find a sensible way forward to get us all pulling in the same direction once more.

Having read the above (and not much else on this thread) I am deeply ashamed of the pathetic individuals involved. I hope they're identified and banned as stated, sooner rather than later.

Vilifying one section of the crowd is of course wrong but if a number of individuals sitting there are going to sneak in contraband, throw coins, spit, repeatedly jump on seats and vandalise, I'm not sure how else we can weed the idiots out without having police involvement.

Disappointed with that club statement if totally honest.

For them to claim there was spitting and coins flung at supporters but at the same time say the cameras couldn’t pick up the culprits. What sense does that make ?

Also the thing about facts was rather contradicting when they themselfs don’t have any facts going by what they’ve written above! Shambles.

I agree a meeting is much needed. It’s not about 1 persons behaviour it’s about people getting wrongly targeted by police officers. Allegations like this without any evidence make the club look stupid.

Makes perfect sense to me.

They can see the incident or it was reported to them by another party, but the CCTV images aren't good enough to identify any culprit to a degree of certainty that would stand up in court.

Also, I have no idea whether anything happened at all and I'm not claiming it did.

Disappointed with your statement to be honest. Playing the victim does you no favours.

There is no contradiction on the Club statement. Read it again as it states the quality of the CCTV footage of the incident is such that at this time we are unable to pursue this to the degree of certainty that would allow prosecution. It would appear to me that the incidents were seen but faces were not clearly seen to be admissible in a Court of Law. It looks like you are the one with no facts.

Surely that's not true?? I wasn't there, but surely to f**k that's an absolute fabrication? If not then that is disgusting

This part just isn't true. There have been no flares or fireworks. What planet are they actually on?

There have been smoke bombs but there is a big big difference between flares/fireworks and smoke bombs.

Resorting to lying is an official club statement is desperate times.

As I stated earlier the Dundee police told me St Mirren fans had set off fireworks in a pub in Dundee. Are they too part of the conspiracy?

Do you seriously think the club are making this up?

At what point do you wake up and open your eyes bud?

So a running list of who is in on the conspiracy against W7.

Paisley Police.

Our Board of Directors.

Paramedics.

Dundee Police.

Pub owners at away grounds.

Our own fans.

Stewards at home games.

Stewards at away games.

Have I missed anyone? You would need to be either part of the group causing trouble, related to one of them or a conspiracy theory crackpot to believe all these people are faking stories about this set of fans.

Just saying ;-)

Not 1 part of the statement is factual, its all alleged!

So you know exactly what every St Mirren fan has been doing every game over the last 18 months? The Dundee police made up the lie about fireworks being let off? There was no fighting with Well fans on two separate occasions? The Paisley police and paramedics made up allegations about spitting and coin throwing? Did you see the injured Utd fan being carried through the vormitory in W7 and can swear the spitting and coin throwing did not happen?

Tremendous banter that we currently have CCTV where you can't see peoples faces

This is what happens when you have a club which spunks every penny on players with little or nothing held back for a rainy day I'm afraid. This just isn't a surprise at all.

What's worse is that we've just officially announced to that group that they can act however they want as a group because they can't be identified individually.

legally these are allegations, not factual or proven
No problem with allegations being followed up on and action taken, however as we stand at the moment they are all allegations

Am I wrong?

Not surprising ! The club , from Chairman down to management is an absolute point and laugh shambles. This is an official statement from the club which, on the face of it , is a load of bollocks !

Don't know anything about these incidents but i would suggest if they are happening, then it's a small minority. By all means seeks those out who are guilty but don't label all those supporters in this section as guilty. The chairman himself has indicated it's a small minority so let's find them and get them banned.
