Isle Of Bute Saint
In the article Danny say's we need to make way for our younger players coming through for next season we only want players who can contribute massively. Also a few players who are still on contract have been told to move on. Reading between the lines sounds like some players take the huff because they don't play week in week out. Danny say's it's hard to keep players happy when you only have 11 starters. There is going to be a lot of players on the market this season as clubs start cutting back. Second bottom in the league for us is not good enough so I for one will be glad to see a significant turnaround clearly we need some fresh blood and ambition. Guest somner9
I think somebody might have to nip down to gilmour street and give Big Sam a hand! He was heard to say he's off down the station to "Jump! on the next train south". i'm sure the CCTV will prove otherwise
billyg
And who's to know what good loan signings we may pick up? Who wouldn't in DL's shoes bite the hand off someone offering you Dummett, Newton and Goncalves knowing what you know now? Knowing what? That collectively they hardly played in any league wins? HSS
Can't believe that. Carey can take a set piece better than anyone in the team by a million miles. He's a great talent albeit inconsistent - but few escape that charge this year. With so many departures its worrying how long a new team will take to settle. Big decisions by Danny, even bigger season for him in my view. Unless we seriously progress in the league then he has offered little compared to Gus How many goals has Carey scored from free kicks?I'll take the "little" League Cup win, thank you very much. Guest somner9
Knowing what? That collectively they hardly played in any league wins? knowing they came together and helped us win a cup and stay up by the skin of our teeth. Would we have fared better without them? Would we now be a season closer to playing the **** again?

slartibardfast
I,d have played Carey ahead of McLean any time. Kenny has been a ghost in most games I watched him this season.Sad to see Graeme leave.
shull
Come August, those gone will be forgotten. A new Squad assembled and a a new team picked. We'll all be raring to go. Got a League Cup to defend, a Scottish Cup to win and a league position to improve. Thanks to the League Cup legends of March 17th 2013. Those going and those staying. All loved ! Big Jake
Sad about Carey not being offered a new deal. I do suspect he will stay in Scotland, probably a side like Hibs. I think he has a Scottish girlfriend and will probably want to remain up here as he isn't the type who will go to England and make life changing money and be able to drag her down there with him. Thanks for the goal of the season wee man, it gives us some good memories in our new stadium that we can reminisce about.
Super_Saints
Guy imrie Adam Samson McGowan Carey Parkin goncalves Newton dummett Chris smith is 11 players leaving dont think he knows what he's doing!! Nicky some of your rants show you dont know what your doing danny has no control over samson mcgowan Goncalves newton or dummett he wants to keep all of them but isnt able to simple as that Smith isnt good enoguh for the spl neither is Parkin Guy had a good first 8 weeks and has been shocking since then a think he was born offside Adam havent seen enough of him so cant comment Imrie has been poor for us looked good on saturday could it be the beginning of something ? I remember the hysteria and excitement around when Carey signed for us purely based on his loan spell with us but unfortunatly it was not the same player that returned and imo he has went the complete opposite of gowser since leaving celtic a thought gowser was poor during his loan spell and wasnt overly fussed when we signed him but has since turned out to be our star man and is rightfully so getting a big money move for himself. For me that is all about attitude Gowser applied himself after being released by celtic to make a point whereas Carey seems to have hit the depressed button and went on a downwards spiral maybe a move to a new club will help him but he hasnt been anywhere near the heights he was while on loan and trying to prove something to celtic. Only at st mirren would the fans already be turning on the managers decisions regarding players after 2 are released and no signings have been made Danny played a blinder with the loan market this season with Dummett Goncalves and Newton and for me a think he deserves a chance to do this again

Isle Of Bute Saint
We have a few more John McGinn types on the brink of the first team. Kieran Doran in particular should come in and make in impact next season. Was at the under 20's game last night which Saints won 4-0 against Dundee United. Our number 16 caught the eye has bags of talent and a football brain to match. However he is a very small guy. Will take in more of these under 20's games last night was very entertaining stuff. oaksoft
I've heard it's Tommy Craig who's falling out with players, and who seems to be pulling the strings a lot of the time. Might be time to change our assistant manager? You want to back that up that claim with some credible sources because otherwise this looks like unsubstantiated shit stirring. Not sure that's what our club needs right now if that's what you are doing. It's normally Dickson's job to do that.

Sergie's no1 fan
How many superb games has Graham had in the last 2 years,. washe worthy of a new deal on that basis? We can't keep him on just so other teams can't sign him, even though he'll end up having 3/4 blinders against us next season. Up until January he was a cert to be released at the end of his contract and nobody would of been too bothered ( apart form JJ ). Then he had a superb performance in the semi against Celtic at left back, Dummet returning pretty much killed his chances of a regular game along with Isma coming in and McGinn being introduced to the team ahead of him. Yes he has the ability to win games and he needed a good run in the team which he has never got, you have to ask why. It all can't be Danny's fault, his attitude has came into question since he first joined us well over weight. Maybe they didn't agree which each other and working together would never of worked next season. I'll be sad to see him go because there is a player in him somewhere, who knows maybe that bad injury he had at Huddersfield has changed him. As for Sam, he done what was asked of him, he was always going to be a back up player. Came on as a impact sub a few times this season and changed some games for us, scored in the cup run and got himself a winners medal. The Original 59er
Statistics, statistics and damned lies............................................ Parkin has been a waste of space and salary - sorry Sam, not good enough throughout the whole season and your level will be somewhere about English 2nd or no-league status. Moving onto the stats - yes Carey has scored very few goals but he is a dead-ball threat. He's one of these players who I think will benefit from a long run in the position that suits him best, but at Saints he never really found that position, or got a long run. Dummet returning after New Year scuppered Carey getting an extended run at left back, where to be honest I thought he had two or three not bad games.Maybe he did upset the management or didn't quite fit the 'company' style, and if that's the case then sorry he has to go. I've got faith in the management, we have extolled the playing style over the past couple of years, however if you look at the team in the cold light of day there are only maybe four or five you might really, really want to keep. The stats don't lie, 11th in the league tell us that we are lacking quality in a number of areas, including the defence where our goals against collumn is pretty poor. I've said it before we need fresh blood and talent and less journeymen such as Guy, Parkin, Barron, DVZ, Mair and if we are to get loanees then please can they be consistent enough to merit a place, not be given a starting spot every week just because the team loaning them to us insist that they play if they are fit! Keep the faith

Yet again typical lets all hate Danny mentality had you ever heard of newton dummett or goncalves ? doesnt matter if they were offered they players danny still took them and made them into key players in our season so to ignore the impact our managemetn team has had in positives signings is a poor attempt

Keep the faith He used to be a dead ball threat, during his loan spell but can we still can him that. I count 2 goals from free kicks in 2 seasons. I was at the stage where I celebrated if he got one on target or by the wall. Brittain, Vigurs, Mulgrew are the names I think of when I think SPL free kick specialists. Graham Carey epitomises what St Mirren as a club have done this season. Lack consistency, with his league cup performances papering over his poor league form. We are all in agreement that this season's league campaign has been hugely underwhelming. I'm sorry, but I cant lay the fault 100% at the manager's door. Some players performances do not merit a new deal, and Carey is one. We cant afford to have a player with "potential" on the wage bill, if that potential only comes to the fore 2 or 3 times a season. That wage is better spent on a first teamer who delivers more regularly. For us to climb that league next season, changes must be made. Now if Carey is released and the players replacing him and not of a certain standard then I will complain. But imo this is the right decision, If someone isnt contributing regularly then his wage could be better spent elsewhere.
