beyond our ken
I was at a conference at the EICC this week and realised that i recognised the official photographer on the day. I caught up with him later and he told me he was busy taking snaps of property all over the capital and in Glasgow as well as Aberdeen. "Air BnB?" i assumed. Unfortunately not, it seems that every office block, hotel, commercial unit, production building, retail unit and more in Scotland is going into a range of portfolios. Most are owned by foreign investors who bought in Dollars, Euros, yen, etc and are being paid in GBP for the rental, the exchange rate has already torpedoed their profits. They all feel that if Johnson wins the election then the bulk of the property stops being an asset and becomes a liability, so they are all ready to dump the lot on the market if he wins a majority and gets the Brexit his speculating chums want. that will allow the Rees-Moggs and the like to buy up huge swathes of property for, relatively speaking, pennies. When things pick up after the Tories have been driven out then the prices will rise again and they will make a killing in a seller's market. You have all been warned. delpierro
I think the Tories will win thee election and Boris, will be PM., and invariably hark on about taking back control from, Brussels, for the the tenure of office. Then in the 2021 Holyrood Electon, the SNP will speak of taking back control from WM.Ad nauseamAnd whilst all this is happening, Saints will be in a relegation battle....and we'll blame any c**t [emoji41]

They've deliberately cut the footage off right before he said he wanted to ban advertising for pay day lenders. I think what he was TRYING to say is that people using foodbanks have trouble budgeting and they then essentially make it worse by borrowing money from pay day lenders and that he wanted to put an end to that. One of the Labour guys at the bottom of the article tweeted something to that effect. You can argue the toss over whether he's right that it's a budgeting issue for some / all. There's no doubt about that being the problem for some but the bit about payday loans is mistaken I think.

faraway saint
Is Boris back as PM yet? Personally I don't give a feck, it's the angst from all sides when the results come in that amuse me. All the reasons/excuses already primed from the usual suspects. Roll on ra morra. 😁 Edited December 12, 2019 by faraway saint
shull
People get so worked up over nothing. If they are fit and able to look after themselves and family then there is no need to abuse anybody over who they wish to vote for. Cornwall Saint and others are perfectly willing to call anybody a cnut or an utter utter utter cnut just because that person happens to vote Conservative. Big men. Ha ha ha For me it's a bit twin pronged. There will be a lot of people in the UK that a Tory government will suit personal situation and there will be a lot that it really won't. If you vote Tory for the betterment of your personal situation, fine, it's your choice and one that people died for you to have. There is of course the argument about considering others and the impact of austerity & poverty. That's where it becomes so much more emotive and I can understand the mud slinging against people voting Tory out of self preservation, but it doesn't make it right. What I do not understand is, for the most part, working class & people nearer or below the breadline voting Tory. It is completely factual & evidence-based that a majority Tory government will not work in their favour and not better their lives. If you're voting Tory when you know a majority Tory government will make you worse off, you're tuned to the moon.
