JJ McG Posted June 6, 2014 Report Posted June 6, 2014 If Tes knocked back Killie it's because he has a better offer somewhere else. Don't think he is daft enough to jump into the open market with so many players looking for clubs. Wouldn't want him back anyway mate. Quote
Callum Gilhooley Posted June 6, 2014 Report Posted June 6, 2014 Tess knocks back a contract from Killie. Could see him back here competing with Kelly for the left back slot and another option for left mid at a push. No thank you. Quote
Tam M Posted June 6, 2014 Report Posted June 6, 2014 There would be no point in signing Tess. We have Kelly and the other young lad for that position. Quote
Sonny Posted June 6, 2014 Report Posted June 6, 2014 Maybe I am in a minority but I would like to see Kelly played left midfield. I think he is an excellent attacking player. Having someone like Tess behind him would be OK for me. At home we can maybe give Wylde a game in from of or alongside Kelly but use Kelly's more defensive qualities away from home. Quote

Kelly is a no frills, nothing fancy left sided player with a good engine on him, which makes him ideal to be a full back and at a push a center half (I know he started off as a centre half but I think he has fully moulded into a left back). He isn't technically good enough to play left mid regularly. Tesselaar knocked us back before because his value of himself (or his agents value of him) was more than ours was. If he has left killie , I doubt its because they have offered him less then he is on now which means he is looking for more again on top of our offer two years ago. Apart from anything else, we are unusually sorted for left back already with Kelly and yaqub deputizing Quote
jazza Posted June 8, 2014 Report Posted June 8, 2014 Any truth in Gary Teale trying to convince James McFadden to the club? Quote
Murray7 Posted June 8, 2014 Report Posted June 8, 2014 Any truth in Gary Teale trying to convince James McFadden to the club? Where did you read that? Quote
faraway saint Posted June 8, 2014 Report Posted June 8, 2014 Where did you read that? Ah told him. Quote
FTOF Posted June 8, 2014 Report Posted June 8, 2014 Any truth in Gary Teale trying to convince James McFadden to the club? A great player on his day, but surely too expensive. Would also question his fitness in terms of injuries and stamina. Quote
Drew Posted June 8, 2014 Report Posted June 8, 2014 A great player on his day, but surely too expensive. Would also question his fitness in terms of injuries and stamina. Pretty much this. 'Well supporters worship the guy, but even they felt it might be too much of a gamble to hold onto him given his recent injury issues and the fact that his best days are now behind him. If he was willing to play for next to nothing, then fair enough, but I would imagine if that were the case, he would have stayed on at Motherwell in some capacity. Quote
whydowebother Posted June 8, 2014 Report Posted June 8, 2014 (edited) Any truth in Gary Teale trying to convince James McFadden to the club?Yes (however James has his eyes on a bigger prize allegedly ) IMO Edited June 8, 2014 by whydowebother Quote
Drew Posted June 8, 2014 Report Posted June 8, 2014 Yes (however James has his eyes on a bigger prize allegedly ) IMO A Teale, Thompson, and McFadden buy-out? With Chris Brookmyre writing the programme notes! Quote

pod Posted June 8, 2014 Report Posted June 8, 2014 Yes (however James has his eyes on a bigger prize allegedly ) IMO They don't come bigger than us. Quote
leolovesstmfc Posted June 8, 2014 Report Posted June 8, 2014 I would love St.Mirren to sign Mcfadden but can't see it happening too expensive and too injury prone. Quote
faraway saint Posted June 8, 2014 Report Posted June 8, 2014 I would love St.Mirren to sign Mcfadden but can't see it happening too expensive and too injury prone. You would love us to sign an injury prone player? Quote
Sonny Posted June 8, 2014 Report Posted June 8, 2014 Our policy of signing big name players (and double named players) who have history of injury and are on a fast moving downward spiral has not exactly worked out in the past (or even the season just finished). McFadden has serious injury problems and low fitness levels allegedly. Leave him well alone. Quote
Hambud Posted June 8, 2014 Report Posted June 8, 2014 Did KB not exercise his right to terminate his contract when they became newco along with Davis, Lafferty, Naismith and mcgregorI think he wanted to stay with them then played a couple of 3rd division games for them, but he had a couple of stinkers and they terminated the contract. Quote
leolovesstmfc Posted June 9, 2014 Report Posted June 9, 2014 Yes I would love to see a fit James Mcfadden at the club but only if he was prepared to take a large wage cut and passed a medical that's why I said can't see it happening!!! Kirk Broadfoot was released by Rangers 3 games into the season they started in the the 3rd division. Quote
shull Posted June 9, 2014 Report Posted June 9, 2014 (edited) McFadden's overrated. Edited June 9, 2014 by shull Quote
TopCat Posted June 9, 2014 Report Posted June 9, 2014 Would take McFadden only if the contract was heavily weighted in appearance bonuses. If he's playing would make him a top earner, if he's not then should be on next to nothing. Quote
