Think one of the other strikers he's definitely after is Kane at St Johnstone, but can't see that happening at all.

He played in their European game last week as their squad was very depleted. Radio Scotland mentioned that St Johnstone were considering moving him out on loan again.

Why don't we promote a striker from our own youth academy?

If the likes of Queens Park and St. Johnstone can find strikers then surely we can as well?

We surely have a decent striker in the academy?

David Longwell is rubbish, etc.

Aye, we hear you, Andy....

You said it Drew.

Going back to the Gus Mapherson years, we keep getting told that Gus never gave the youngsters a chance (which wasn't true at all).

He got slated for signing the likes of Hamilton & Wyness instead of playing youngsters.

So where are these strikers from the youth academy?

Why haven't we found even just one half decent striker in the past decade?

Shaun Rooney the 18 year old right back / centre half from Queens Park starts a weeks trial tomorrow. There is definite interest from other championship clubs as the lad is a really good player.

From a personal point of view I hope he shows up well and gets a gig. If we don't sign him then he'll end up with a rival championship team.

The strange thing about the Mcpherson era is there was some good boys with bags of potential getting turned away and not getting offered contracts, local boys at that, young players often find it hard to deal with that and may never go on to fulfil what they could have if given that chance

Surprised we're even giving him a trial considering he's quite highly rated. If have thought this was one of those deals we'd want sorted quickly rather than running the lottery of someone else swooping in.

Maybe he's giving us a trial.

But he might not be any better than what we've already got. Quite right to give him a trial, only fools rush in.

I can see the logic in that statement for a player who the manager has never seen before, eg the big Dane.

But I would have thought that Murray would have see Rooney in action on a few occasions and will have spoken to numerous folk who will have seen him action. He'll know all about him.

Like others have said, I suspect its St. Mirren who are on trial here...
