That's an excellent point and in amongst the unbelievable nonsense involving a director moronically offering to fight an equally moronic fan, it's keeping me sane right now. :D

I believe that I made a similar point in that I was reassured to know that we had looked at people on trial and said no. I commended Jim and the club on setting standards rather than just adding bodies. Agree.. A good point.

Ooh, a midfielder...

Thought same thing, he's previously been a left winger who has been playing centre mid for last 4 seasons.

He's been well thought of at League one level and to be honest, if it's the case, probably spells the end for at least Kellerman and or Tansey.

Seems the NTFC fans were pretty disappointed that he was released. They seemed to think that he was their best midfielder by a mile.

Yeovil Town and Port Vale fans seem keen to have him back.

Strange thing to say perhaps, but I trust JG and GM to make sound decisions on the shape of the side and personnel they need.

Think it's easy to forget as everyone is focused on positions where we have no-one, that centre mid probably does need someone better in there as well and it goes back to what I said earlier....no issue with folk going if they aren't as good as who comes in.

We are absolutely top heavy with central players at present but Stevie McGinn has looked well off the pace, Kyle Magennis and Ryan Flynn have started poorly (expect both to rally without issue though)and Kellerman doesn't look nearly good enough.

If someone can come into the middle of the park with a bit of technical ability, it would make a lot of difference, I was concerned about the no pace part of his assessment but if he's as hard working as is mentioned and can provide a bit of box-to-box energy (a type of Steven Thomson player - another guy who had very little pace) then it could well be a  good thing for us regardless of how many others can play his position.

Definitely, if he is coming in though, it's time to move others on. Ethan or Cammy might benefit from a loan elsewhere in the short term. Tansey, we can now accept is probably not coming back and Jim Kellerman doesn't appear to be suitable for any midfield role I've seen him tried out in.

We could have given Halkett the 75k as a signing on fee and it would still have made a massive amount more sense. Big error, that one.

I seem to remember a story on here that Ross had agreed to sign Halkett (although it may have been another Livi defender) and Stubbs cancelled it.

As for Kellerman, sure Goodwin said that he has dislocated his shoulder so maybe that's why we're looking at another midfielder.

I heard the same Stu. Halkett was coming to us but when Ross left and during the uncertainty he signed on again for Livi.

I know MacPherson dislocated his... Sounds like a pandemic.

I did mine 13 times. It's a f**king nightmare and you can't come back quickly from it.

What is the position with Tansey? Is he out of contract or sacked or what? Looks like Tansey feels he has a chance of recovering 100% from this bone disease that has plagued him and he feels he can be a decent player again. Has Tansey fallen out with Gordon Scott or Jim. Another strange circumstance

I've commented on what I think is happening with Tansey over on his thread.

Just my opinion and reading between the lines of what he has said himself but long story short, I think he genuinely believes he's fit and recovered but specialists won't clear him as they disagree that he's OK and we as a club are siding with the specialists on this.

The situation is we badly need a tall defensive central midfielder who can dictate play and shield the defence preferably a good sound fit journeyman type with a decent fitness record just like Goody himself this ex Northampton guy appears to fit the bill.

I'm guessing that supporters of League One and Two level clubs seem to think he's of a good enough standard?

So not a kick in the arse off of our level really.

It was a guy I know who spoke to Halkett and he confirmed that he was joining us until Stubbs pulled the deal.

Yeah.

I didn't think it was that hard to understand.

That's disastrous.

I knew it was claimed but didn't realise that it was confirmed. Still.....all's well that ends well and we got a cracking young centre half from the V9 instead. :(

He sounds a bit like Goodwin, might be good sitting in front of defence.

Not sure he's a defensive midfielder, seems to have scored a lot of goals, especially at Newport, if that's his position.
