Griff
Teale got a good performance from the team , and I hope that he is kept as assistant and continues to help get the best out the team , we need a wheeler dealer type guy who can move a few players out , and bring in a few more useful players , Teale doesn,t have experience of that , so for me its Terry Butcher , and his mate Steve Marsella who must have had a few people watched when they were at Hibs . Thinking a combination of hard working physically strong players from the lower leagues in England would blend nicely with some of the youngsters we have coming through Ralston. kevo_smfc
I remember butcher got next to no time at hibs to assess the squad and try and bring players in through jan. If it is Butcher or anyone else, we need to keep Teale on in a coaching capacity,as he has a good idea of where we are weakest in the team and what needs freshened up. Sergie's no1 fan
I remember butcher got next to no time at hibs to assess the squad and try and bring players in through jan. If it is Butcher or anyone else, we need to keep Teale on in a coaching capacity,as he has a good idea of where we are weakest in the team and what needs freshened up. Butcher's biggest mistake was publicly slating the Hibs team, he thought he'd be able to punt most of them in January but wasn't able to. So he was stuck with a dressing room that despised him and they dropped down the league quicker than Sevco's bank balance. He was regarded as one of the best managers in Scotland, if not the best, before he joined Hibs. The problem is he has taken over 2 teams in our current position ( Hibs and ICT ) and both have been relegated at the end of the season. We need someone to come in and steady the ship, can't see many teams signing our duds so whoever comes in has to be tactically astute and be able to get the best out of really average players. Murray took over Dumbarton in November a few years ago when they had 8 points, by the end of the season they ended up with over 40 with the same group of players. That's the kind of miracle we need. Whether or not that makes Murray the ideal man for the job and if we can afford him is another matter entirely. Griff
Think we could move a few of the duds on , Gateshead would probably have Marwood back , Caldwell seems sensible enough and would probably drop a League to get a game , Ball could probably get punted to a lower league English club , and we will probably try and cash in on McGinn , which means that we could probably bring four or five new faces in and try and get a bit of passion , shape and goals to the team , we just need a manager with a few good contacts who can wheel and deal. Theres also the nucleus of a good squad already there , but I think we need to get the right man in now

If it meant getting rid of 3 duds to bring in 1 decent player I'd take that. Kello,Naismith,Goodwin,Kelly,Tess,McLean,McGinn and Wylde are all good enough to be competing at the top end of the bottom 6, maybe even a higher level. Too many passangers in the squad though. We'd be as well sending Drury and Plummer back. Teale will still be getting his wage as a player too. Who knows if Thompson is going to recover from his injury. Centre half issue needs addressed ( still ). I can't see us appointing a manager, assistant and scout, 3 extra wages. If we want Butcher we'd need to take on his team too. Don't think that'll happen. Will be lucky if we can pay out 1 extra wage unless we do cash in on McGinn. Another problem is who will pay decent money for him, he's not had the best of times this season. Griff
Maybe Butcher might have to give consideration to temporarily breaking up a team , and seeing how things pan out
Gordon Urquhart
Cant see us staying up this season, sadly damage is already done. Terrible appointment in Craig plus other teams too strong, no get out of jail card this year. Therefore, need to plan ahead for Championship challenge with new manager next year. If Butcher has applied and interested its a no brainer.
Kemp
What a ridiculous line of thinking. If we go down we might not be back for a while. We need to stay up and we can stay up.

class of 76-77
Good plan..... Guaranteed he'll definitely take us to the Championship... No brainerTerry Butcher rebuilt the current ICT side that are sitting comfortably in the top half of the SPL. He has a very good record of building good sides who play with style and no little steel and determination. His scouting contact alone would bear fruit with some real gems from the lower leagues in England. His ability to wheel and deal in the market will also be a big plus for our BOD.
FTOF
IMO Terry Butcher is an infinitely better manager than any we've had at the club since the mid 80's.
Sergie's no1 fan
Think what he could do with McAusland with him being a former England internationalist, if anyone could sort our defence out its him.

True he did build a good ICT team, but scouts don't recommend players to clubs for a pat on the back, they would have been well rewarded for their efforts, something our board have difficulty with... He also turned a average mid table Hibs side in to probably the worst team I've seen in the SPL since Gretna, they're we're nearly as bad as we've been this season, good starting point for him...
