That's what we've lacked, being able to grind out a result. Brilliant stuff.

What pleased me in particular was the high level of concentration shown by the back four in particular.

Yes we did lose some challenges and there were some poor efforts at closing down the opposition, but there were no real gifts by the defence tonight.

Just shows what the defence could be like, if we maintained this level of discipline with respect to concentration.

All said before about Cheesy and Goody but they were fecking superb. Thistle didn't have a plan B and Higginbotham who normally gives us problems was subbed early after doing heehaw.

Defence superb and Kenny Maclean oozes class wherever he plays. Mallan so composed and has tremendous use of the ball.

Other teams have been winning ugly against us all season it's great to see us do for a change.

Shows you what having a bit of shape and players understanding what their role is can get you.

We have lacked such organisation for a few years.

We offered nothing after the goal, and while Thistle had the majority of possession, they offered little in the way of genuine chances either. I think this was in great part down to a terrible pitch. The players all had to try and take an extra touch, to kill the ball and stop it bouncing around their feet. Dayton's goal illustrated this as he managed to sclaff the bobbling ball which bounced its way into the net. A scrappy effort due to the sandy crappy surface.

Yeah, there have been worse surfaces in the past, but I think that surface did neither side any favours as the talented midfielders in particular had to adopt a safety first approach. McGinn was particularly poor mind you, but hey, who cares? A clean sheet, a win, a goalscoring debutant and 88 mins for Thommo.

Played poorly and won 1-0? That's just what we've been needing - a hard fought win with no heartbreak moments going against us.

To be fair, our defence were outstanding tonight. Goodwin and McAusland were the best players on display. Credit where its due.

What about that tackle on Osbourne that saw him getting taken off injured. I have to say I didn't think it was a red however compared to Thommo's, McLean's and both Arquin's this was as bad if not worse. All of our red cards didn't result in anyone having to go off injured.

But they did result in players rolling around and clutching their anatomy.

Wait that might have been a porn film I was watching

The entire defence were solid tonight and humped the ball to fcuk as and when necessary. All round good stuff from the backline.

It was hard but never a red card. Osbourne is fragile we all know that !
