Stevie88
Tommy Craig had a wealth of experience. Hmm. Tommy Craig was a decent assistant, just never a manager.

FS
Interesting the amount of comparing what a manager did 30 years ago at a club that's nothing like the one it was 30 years ago, not even close.

Froggie
I have desisted from posting for a couple of weeks from a combination of disinterest at the teams performances, disgust at the club charging £25 for a second division match, and the fact that I have not been in attendance since the Berwick match. Watching from the outside, as it were, I find it hilarious that this board having come up trumps yet again with a completely useless manager, are trying to turn the clock back three decades with the appointmant of Alex Miller. Ive only seen the Rangers match recently, on tv, so can only imagine how bad the team has been playing going by results. The thing that intrigued me in the Rangers game was how our "goalkeeper" got off lightly for escorting the winning goal into his net (helpfully by moving out the way)Last game I saw was one where he ducked to allow the ball to go over his head and into the net. Another home defeat. I realise I will encounter some stick as a non attender who ought not to have an opinion of the farce that is the current Saints team, fair enough. One thing I`d like answered from our Board is this. How on earth can you justify charging £20 a time to watch lower league football and a team which barely scores a goal and never wins at home. Alex Miller, lol.
Lanarkshire_Bud
Who announces a non playing staff member arriving after midnight??? Also, does the article mention him being an assistant? He is just "helping" him. This is all very strange. It was leaked via The Sun late last night that Kenny McDowall was in the frame. My bet would be the club wanted to get it out there rather than have fans speculate on McDowall....it has also made a c**t out of the Sun which is a bonus. Dirty Sanchez
I can't think of Alex Miller anymore without being reminded of the old rambling drunk who phoned Off the Ball, and just casually threw in the observation that he'd once showered with Alex Miller and was astonished by the size of his testicles. TediousTom
The appointment of Mr Alex Miller is certianly a positve and we supporters of the Saint Mirren professional football club pte ltd co certianly need a positive. So in that regard, welcome back Alex, welcome back indeed. Now if Mr Alex Miller is only "consulting" then why did the powers that be at the Saint Mirren professional football club pte ltd co feel the need to dispense with the services of Mr Mark Spalding? Could Mr Alex Miller not have consulted with the pair of them? I cannot help but feel sorry for Mr Spalding today, it would appear that he has lost his job due to the failings of Mr Ian Murray and I am uncomfortable with that, in fact I am unhappy about it. However, no matter how willing our manager was to see his friend and colleague lose his job without showing any solidarity with his assistant, life at our club must go on. All the best Alex Miller, I wish you every success and I hope that Mr Ian Murray does not interfere with your leadership of our club whilst you "consult" with him. beyond our ken
Murray's time is all but up now. Should we continue to decline he will be dumped and Miller appointed caretaker, should things go on the up then it will further expose Murray's failings. Miller will likely be made a director of coaching or some such to oversee the appointment and development of a successor. first positive decision since wee danny was appointed
Buddie Marvelous
Whatever Alex Millers role at the club, I wish him all the best. Being with us previously he will be under no illusions regarding the workings/failings of St.Mirren. Onwards and upwards then..... COYS. div
It's a bit of a no-brainer really. I am fairly sure Miller offered to work for free last time round, so I wouldn't be too surprised if he's doing this consultancy role for expenses only. Meanwhile we will have had to reach a compromise agreement with Spalding. I would think Murray's jacket is very much on a shaky peg but it's difficult to imagine where we would get the finances from to sack him. The limited funds we do have at the club have been squandered all over the place in the last few years both paying players to go away from their contracts, and sacking managers. Hopefully Miller will be the line in the sand where it stops and we start making hard nosed footballing decisions that see this wastefulness stop and see the team arrest it's alarming decline. davidg
This BOD's have a history/pattern of doing the same thing over and over again and with some mixed results but overall they have been pretty successful. The latest is very similar to Danny Lennon and Ian Jenkins. We finished 11th in his first season, Lennon got rid of Jenkins for an experienced sidekick and Lennon lasted 3 more seasons with a fair degree of success. I hope the outcome of this appointment has a similar impact for Murray. Edited November 3, 2015 by davidg

I agree Murray's jacket is on a shoogly peg... A peg that has just had 'Miller' chalked above it. I'm uneasy about this whole scenario. Who's pulling the strings here?
