Was reading the Hibs v United match report from Friday night and saw that McGinn came on for Hibs after his spell out injured and played very well and scored a terrific solo goal. McGinn might be our saving grace in the next 18 months or so as if he keeps up his good form and gets a big money move then St Mirren will see a 1/3 of any fee Hibs get.

Would love to see him win the title with Hibs and move on for £2-3 million in the summer with saints landing a healthy windfall which could help us cope with a drop into league One and possibly remain full time to get us out of the league.

He is our only hope of getting a significant cash sum into our beloved club.

Neil Lennon has a knack of selling on players to England for large sums of cash so here's hoping McGinn is the next one. Also Celtic could could do worse than turn to McGinn as he has attributes to go to the very top.

Keep up the good work John!

Just trying to start a positive thread as there is currently very little positive to mention about the club after yesterday's shambles.

I was thinking this also, though just think how effective that extra money could be if we are still playing in the championship. All the cash would do it this moment in time IF we go down is fill the massive gap in income we will lose from everywhere else.

If we drop down a league , which is looking more likely each week , we need to have five or six experienced players , five or six young players , and probably five or six players who are experienced and successful in the lower I leagues , we can afford that squad with our budget next year . we should focus on initiatives that keep prices down and bring fans in

I wouldn't  be surprised if the club are already beginning the process of preparation for league one football. There are a number of issues to prepare for, not least is the running cost of Ralston.

Im guessing that the running cost of our academy and training facility will impact on the the amount of money available for the players budget. In the event of relegation which looks increasingly likely, we really need to bounce back in one season but with massively reduced revenue streams, and all the overheads involved will we be able to afford to sign the players required to get back in one season.

If McGinn does go for a big fee then it would be a chink of light at the end of the tunnel.

I would kick the 1st team out of Ralston and get them training on waste land. They they can return to good training facility when they get the finger out and start to prove they deserved the good facility  <_<

A recipe for Rocco doing his ankle in until the end of the season.

Reports today that Sunderland (David Moyes) will be in or McGinn this summer. Double whammy for smisa if it comes to pass.

Dicko must have given Moyes the nod?

Regardless of if they are relegated or not?

I reckon McGinn is worth £2.5m based on the daft money that exchanges hands in the English game.

If Hibs hold out we could be in for a major cash boost.

Hibs have knocked back a bid of £1m for John from Ipswich Town.

Hopefully they come back with an improved offer.

Ipswich have had a £1M bid turned down by Hibs for John. Let's hope this is the start of a bidding war.

Wow. :P

More or less guaranteed now. If Hibs are willing to knock back £1m out of hand, he'll not go for less than £1.5m-£2m you'd imagine. A third of that will be a fantastic boost.

Thank christ the valuation is nothing to do with Saints fans before he left us!

Hibs fans on P&B now claiming that the 33% sell-on is actually 20%. Panic stations already, I see.

When you think about, though, the sell-on clause will be another motivating factor for Hibs holding out for a bigger fee.

All good:)

Let's not forget that a chunk of any fee received would be payable to the previous owners.

Just for clarification, are you saying that the Old Board are legally entitled to a percentage of the sell-on fee or do you mean that St Mirren receiving a windfall would hasten the club purchase repayments to the Old Board ?

It's actually SMiSA who need to pay the consortium earlier if McGinn and or McLean are sold, the club are in no debt at all to the consortium, so any money made will be for the clubs coffers.

ETA The club may well lend some of the money from any sale to SMiSA if they don't have enough reserves to pay it themselves, as it stands i believe Mclean being sold would not be a problem as there are funds to pay the agreed amount on that, McGinn being sold would mean SMiSA needing to borrow to pay the outstanding amount due to the consortium and there is an agreement to borrow it from the club.
