I have the horrible feeling that we have nothing up front yet again, which will cost us dearly. Surely the money received from selling players ought to have been spent on a centre forward. Maybe theres someone in mind but a poor start to the league season (in addition to same in the league cup) will lose much of the momentum built up from Feb to May , and fans will drift away again. Other teams have recognised scorers but its been a long while since we we had one. Come on , Jack, we fans deserve it.

There will be loan options available in the next few weeks. I think we need to be a bit patient on this.

Shoot me down right now but I think Ross Stewart (in time) is going to be the answer!!

Starting along with Reilly perhaps.

Indeed, or in the shorter term as an impact sub, the little flashes I saw last week shows at times an awkward and raw forward but also presently with good awareness that causes problems in the oppositions penalty area, I think with the right coaching and hard work this could be another of Jack's gems.

Rumour I heard on Saturday was that we're thinking of signing Shankland again.

If he's fit and motivated, he's a good player - don't think he has been either of those for a while though.

I'd be very surprised if that is the case given that JR hunted him out the door at the first opportunity.

And therein lies the problem.

I thought he did relatively well in his first spell with us, but was extremely poor thereafter, for both ourselves and Morton.

Having thought about it, I believe that there are probably better options out there that JR will be targeting.

I agree, and that would be surprising, but... I'd imagine there would be no better judge of whether Shankland had screwed his head back on.

If we had a new manager who signed him, I'd fear the worst, but if Jack saw him and believed he had reached the required standard since last year, then I'd be happy to go along with that.

(He's not coming back, though, no way; I was just making a point about trusting Jack's judgement :) )

seen Dumbarton fans really slagging tom Walsh off on pie and Bovril,a wonder where hardie we sent back in January will end up???

Hardie may still have a future - he showed up well for (I think) the Scotland Under-20s in the summer, apparently. While he almost certainly iusn't good enough for the zombie club, I think he could still be good enough. He'll probably end up at a lower Prem/top Championship club.

The Greek striker is reported to be interesting Dumbarton now so I doubt if we have retained our interest in him.

Pretty sure he was sitting a few seats along from me in the main stand on Saturday, had headphones in and looked thoroughly uninterested in the match tho.

Was he wearing an Oakland Raiders cap? Assumed that guy was a pal of Stelios.

Yeh that's the one, I just assumed it was Froxylias as he looked like the picture I'd seen of him and looked greek/cypriot but you may be right.

I wonder if we'll see a new face this week.

Announcing JR and JF's new deal last Friday seemed to work......

Maybe the same again this week with a forward player? A wee boost in the 24 hours before the derby?
