TsuMirren
Spot on. The vitriol against McGinn is frankly ridiculous. Good luck to him. If Saints get money plus Rankine, even better. You never used to get the same vitriol during pub discussions, mostly because the vitriolics were too young to get in.

Sonny
The Daily Ranger also stating Utd's interest but no mention of Rankin. Do we need Rankin at this stage? We appear to have an abundance of central midfield players but there are other positions where we definitely require recruits.
linwood buddie
Is Rankin coming on loan ? Can't see him taking a big wage cut to play for us in the Championship if its a transfer.

kevo_smfc
Is Rankin coming on loan ? Can't see him taking a big wage cut to play for us in the Championship if its a transfer. People are pure speculating on Rankin at the moment. His name got mentioned along with Paton by by Utd fans as players that would maybe be dropped/replaced if McGinn came in. I personally think if we got anywhere near 150-170k at this stage, when things looked completely dead in the water, would be magnificent. This money if given to Murray towards the squad would be a big difference in the quality we could add to the current group of players. IMO, Carswell & Rankin would give us a pretty strong central midfield and would allow Jim Goodwin to give us experience in central defence. Kemp
I'd rather not have Goodwin at centre defence, he is a pretty hopeless defender!
John Gotti
Given Utd's ability to get a fortune for players, I would take less from them if they include a sell on percentage.

irvine_buddie
I heard a figure of 170K mentioned if Dundee Utd were going to sign him, would be happy enough with that. That would allow a couple more players to come in.
Magic Monkey
Yeah exactly. Anything into six figures, I reckon, would be a win all round, especially against the possibility of him going for nowt.

Drew
Sell-on fee clause should be negotiated, but otherwise this would be a decent outcome to an unhelpful saga.

Why wasn't he signed up on an extended contract last summer? I think he was offered a deal, but rejected it. He was always going to leave this summer.
