The Original 59er
Recurring issue with our limited budget Probably get shot down for this suggestion, but there's a few good players to be found in the juniors. Graham Boyd, local lad - banging goals in for Kilbirnie Ladeside. When you consider that Chris Erskine and Jamie Longworth came from the same club, might not be the worst gamble in the world to give someone like that a chance. Gordon McQueen, Lex Richardson, Hugh Gilshan, to name just three

rabuddies
Sadly these were different days. I had three uncles who were pros, two in Scotland and one in England. Their route to the pro ranks was Juvenile (Kirklandneuk I think), then various Junior clubs. During this they were serving apprenticeships and at 21 when their time was out they had to do National Service but one had signed pro before he went. They all spent 2 years playing for the Army and their regiments and one signed pro terms during this time and the other after his service was up, so basically they started their pro careers at 23. The juvenile / junior route continued up to the late 80's by which time the Clubs had started to sign boys on schoolboy forms and the Junior game became an also ran. I don't think any pro club in Scotland as bothered much with the Junior ranks since this time and many boys who get dropped at 18/19 expect to get a gig in the lower divisions or the Highland / Lowland leagues and don't consider the Juniors. It's mostly seen as a next step for guys who don;t make it in Leagues 1 and 2.

class of 76-77
Murray could sign a dozen players , but would he know where to play them ?Going by what we've had to endure for the first four games, then the answer is a resounding no. You could argue the case for Murray that's it's early days and that he should be given time to get it right, but the warning signs are already very clear for all to see.Shit festing games against the likes of Dumbarton and Lavy is just not acceptable given the quality of players we have available. So far he looks completely out of his depth at our club.
