Sorry to see Sam Foley go. But it felt like that news was coming. Great guy. Great player. Unbelievable work rate. Hope he gets a decent club. Massive thanks Sam. One of the main reasons we stayed up last year.

Yes Motherwell.

Moved down the pecking order with the arrival of JDH, with the latter still out I'd have been a bit "heads gone" over this news if Flynn hadn't had such a good game last night.

Best of luck with the usual exception...

The January transfer window closes Monday night, hoping for another two in.

Sam has offers from Well, County and some English clubs.

Thanks Sam for all your efforts. Hope you get a contract for next season that you are looking for.

Good move all round for player and for St Mirren.

Can't really understand what has happened to Foley this season because he was superb last season.

This season he has been really poor and deserved to be out of the team.

Hopefully a change of club will do him good.

Can see a good few others following come the end of the season

Don't understand what has gone on here. Sam is definitely good enough to be at St Mirren. Disappointing to see him leave.

Jim covered it in an interview on St Mirren TV.

Trying to get the balance between experience and leaving development opportunities for young players coming through.

Jim obviously hasn't quite found the right balance in the past two months.

Both Foley and Flynn should have been involved more and this has cost us points and a place in the League Cup final.

We are fortunate to have the young talent coming through the ranks but too often they have been left to sink or swim, whereas having a wise 'old head' beside them  would have been to their benefit and the team's.

Sorry to see him go. Ok I know he wasn't at his best before he was left out of the team, but that could have been said about most of the squad. We could have done with his experience over the hard run of games to come.  Best of luck, Sam.
