I think this guy has all the credentials to take us to a better place. He - and his staff and squad - deserve our support. I'm delighted for him to have got that win last night. Hopefully the first of many! Edited December 7, 2016 by Drew Quote
East Lothian Saint Posted December 7, 2016 Report Posted December 7, 2016 Okay That's Christmas sorted now. I don't want a St Mirren top, I want a Jack Ross Cardy. I think the cardigan era is definitely coming back. Quote
DougJamie Posted December 7, 2016 Report Posted December 7, 2016 This time we have to be in the for the long haul. Plenty of downs ahead but last night, first half v bears, that JR has a plan. Also he went for it last night. The save our young keeper made at 2-2 was amazing, the subs were spot on...... This was far more than 3 pts- it was a statement Quote
El Gingero Posted December 7, 2016 Report Posted December 7, 2016 I thought Shankland looked sluggish and in a huff during the pre match warm up but he did put himself about when he came on. Good point about the save at 2-2. Low down to his right hand post if it's the one I remember. You never know, maybe peace might break out in the forum. Quote
Lord Pityme Posted December 7, 2016 Report Posted December 7, 2016 Mibbaes Santa will bring young JR sleeves for his jaiket? Quote
st jock Posted December 7, 2016 Report Posted December 7, 2016 Jack comes across very well in his interviews and has respect for the fans that I've not seen since Danny lennon. I like him Quote

proudtobeabuddy Posted December 7, 2016 Report Posted December 7, 2016 Yep Jack Ross talks a lot of sense and that is whey despite the start i am confident he can turn it round. Quote
David Mc Posted December 7, 2016 Report Posted December 7, 2016 Interesting too that he considered trying grind results out but decided we don't have the right squad to do that. Think he's got his head screwed on. Looks like our manager thinks things through and is his own man. Good. Quote
JJ McG Posted December 7, 2016 Report Posted December 7, 2016 Jack Ross will prove to be a fantastic appointment for st.mirren given time. You just need to look at the influence he is having on the younger players like Magennis and McAlister, the board made a good move by appointing Ross. Quote

Kendo Posted December 11, 2016 Report Posted December 11, 2016 Jack is the real deal, he thinks we can do better and of course we can. Jack will be a legend and inducted into the hall of fame. Quote
dr rotund Posted December 11, 2016 Report Posted December 11, 2016 Still talking sense like he did before these 2 wins, can't fault him. Quote
oaksoft Posted December 11, 2016 Report Posted December 11, 2016 I particularly like the fact that he is prepared to question his methods continuously. That is hugely encouraging. Quote
Drew Posted December 11, 2016 Report Posted December 11, 2016 He strikes me as man of substance. He is clearly analytical in his approach, but there is a thread of pragmatism running through that, and he has genuine passion. There is often talk of 'new manager bounce'. I was thinking about this last week (before the two victories). We obviously didn't see that after JR was appointed, but that wasn't a major concern, as you could see the level of performance improving (as worrying as it was not getting any points). The players were growing in confidence, and it was evident that Jack was working hard to introduce his methods. While the fabled bounce might have been welcomed, I would rather we have an incremental, sustained improvement. A bounce generally involves hitting the earth again pretty quickly. There's nothing to say that won't happen anyway, but it is encouraging to get a sense of the corner finally being turned. I also liked the comment about Morgan playing better on the Main Stand side due to being close to the manager. While it might be a bit tongue in cheek, it suggests a good bond is developing. This is absolutely crucial, especially with the younger players. On the younger players, this has been the most positive aspect of JR's tenure so far. He isn't afraid to start these lads, and they seem fearless and full of confidence. That's just terrific to see. Quote
Singapore Saint Posted December 11, 2016 Report Posted December 11, 2016 I truly believe we have an absolute diamond of a manager on our hands here. I think we will be fine this season but next season could be truly fascinating when he has had the best part of a year to have the squad working and playing the way he wants them too.I'm in. Quote
