Top 6 Game 1, Hibs v St Mirren 6/5/23

Recommended Posts

We’ve bottled it. Looking almost certainly like four dead rubber games now.

That first half performance, along with the Killie game was simply not acceptable.
Despite being terrible last 2 weeks we have one last chance next week, quite a reasonable possibility that by end of next weekend league table could be -
Hearts 48
Hibs 47
St Mirren 47.

I hold out one small glimmer of hope that our great home form returns.

The second half performance saved the team from total abandonment.  SR's half-time talk worked.

Come the end of the season changes to the squad is a must.

More concerned by SRs pre match talk...last 2 games been over after 30 mins...also Dunne looks like he has already left...Fraser is shocking... Hibs are crap so big chance gone but like others on here...baby steps required we are no where near Europe

Individual errors mostly cost us the last two games.

The manager can plan before the game but after the 11 step onto the pitch it's mostly down to them, and a few have failed miserably.

So the team who convincingly outplayed us last week at SMISA Stadium now sit one point off bottom place in the SPL but with the worst goal difference by some considerable margin.

We will have to recruit to improve.

Despite our elevated position in the league at present, we will face a battle against relegation next season as a result of the lack of a cutting edge up front and an inability to create chances from midfield. - not to mention a tendency to leak goals when we sit back and 'keep our shape'.

The BBC reporter described us as 'abysmal' in the first half which is hardly overstating our performance.

First half was awful. Dunne, Fraser and Tanser are very poor. Gallagher did not look fit so unsure why he started before Shaughnesy. Second half we were better but lack a centre forward. Next season will be very similar to this year. The difference between the Clubs will be down to who can find a goalscorer for little money.

I agree, if we ended up in a Euro scenario this year it could be like watching a baby seal being clubbed to death.

Somebody has already suggested that we strengthen close season so we’re ready for top 6 and Europe next season.

I’d go with that option.
