BuddieinEK
He’s definitely doing the job expected of him, but I imagine even Dons fans are surprised at just how consistent they’ve been up there. Hearts and Hibs have more money than the rest of us too, but both found themselves relegated in recent years, and neither side are convincing me they’ll be challenging for third. If it’s about meeting expectations, then there’s no reason he couldn’t take a decent Championship side into the EPL. The only question is how many times the side would then get pumped in the top flight before he was sacked.Wasn't that long before his tenure that the Dons were actually in danger of relegation! He has brought a remarkable consistency to the club. Saved by relegation through league re-construction, finally looked decent under Calderwood with regular Top 6 finishes and to date, still the last non-bigot side to make a European group stage (and secure a draw against Bayern in the knockouts at home). Their most frustrating feature under Jimmy was the constant cup upsets to lower league sides, but upon that removal they went to pot again, especially with that fud McGhee. It really does make the consistency McInnes has achieved impressive.

He has done an incredible job of cementing Aberdeen’s place as Scotland’s best non-bigot club (granted Killie did edge them on goal difference last season). He’s done a great job of giving Dons fans regular European football, with a fair few wins and not suffering the embarrassing results we’ve seen from Hearts, Hibs, Killie and Sevco. However, he never seems to be able to take on bigger clubs. You’d think playing Celtic and Sevco 8 times minimum, year after year, he’d have an idea of how to get some solid results against them. But too often they get defeated, sometimes battered. He’s the sort of manager who could well take a club like West Brom, Middlesbrough or Swansea back to the EPL, but be out of a job within weeks due to his inability to grind out results against the better teams. It’s either down to tactical naivety, a lack of belief/motivation, or both. The Dons have been lucky to keep him for this long, and the consistency is outstanding, but they just can’t seem to grind out the results against the bigots the way that Killie did when Clarke turned Rugby Park into a fortress, and the way even the highly inconsistent Hibees are often problematic for the bigots too. Total mince like any other manager he is pissing into the bigots wind when it comes to resource a very good manager of a limited club the old firm got him just like they get everyone

John Gotti
The bottom line is McInnes could learn how to walk on water and perhaps even make water into wine but our league is so f**king bent that they will still finish third. I don’t feel sorry for them though because they (Aberdeen) had the chance to fix the corruption of our voting system but opted for the status quo................so f**k them and their ex Morton manager [emoji41]

Guest TPAFKATS
McInnes like many in Scotland's top league is good at grinding out results over a season but not so good when his team is expected to take the initiative.Probably also the reason why no bigger clubs are batter down St. Johnstone's door for their manager. Back on topic, the upcoming international break could be interesting for Jack Ross.

Isle Of Bute Saint
Sunderland has been a basket case of a club for years now. Ross will have made a lot of money. Can see him poping up in the championship before getting the bigger deal. Might even go assistant till he gets a gig.

Ronnie
I think he will end up at the sheepHibs, Hearts and Aberdeen will all most likely have a new manager in next 12 months guaranteed Jack Ross will end up at one of them. Hearts is my guess seeing as he has been there before.

Had success in the 2nd top division in Scotland, failed at Sunderland, not exactly a hot property as I see it. See Derek McInnes. He was a success at St. Johnstone in 2nd tier, shite at Bristol City and still got Aberdeen gig.

There was no mistake about it. He’s earned a shitload more money in the past year than he’d earn in years with us, so financially he’s in a much better place. Plus the payoff is probably decent too. One year in the SPL would have ruined any chance of a big move unless he somehow lead us to one of the cups or a Top 6 finish. We were miles off being competitive in that league (5-0 at Partick and 4-1 at Aberdeen showed how far behind we were), of course Stubbs made a hash of that but JR would have required massive changes to give us a fighting chance. It was the perfect time to make this move, because the chances are the opportunity wouldn’t arise again after a difficult season with us in the Prem. There is no “too early” about it, it was the right move at the right time.

pondsman
Have to agree with Cornwall above. JR had to take the chance while he was riding high with us, and I agree that he wouldn't have done anything special with us in the Premiership without massive investment which just isn't there. So, no hard feelings to Jack, despite the SMTID on his final message to Saints fans, which I thought was a bit over the top at the time. Only fans should be saying that!
