nosferatu
If the League Cup Final had been played on a Saturday in May in decent weather then you'd have had much better celebrations in the town afterwards.
Buddie Marvelous
In Danny's last 3 seasons with St Mirren we finished with 43, 41, and 39 points. Not far off double our points tally this year with a few games left and with many of the same players as Tommy Craig and Gary Teale have had at their disposal. After his exit the poor signings have continued at an increasing rate. Our only decent signings this year were guys Danny had signed previously: Kenny McLean and Tesselaar. Collectively and individually the players who played under DL have looked poorer without him in charge. Goncalves scored about 3 league goals for us. Not sure how someone can seriously post his goals kept us up that season, when we finished 11 points clear or relegation spot. This season we are on course to finish 11 points behind the next worst team. In one season we've gone from finishing 1 point behind 7th placed Ross County to 14 points behind them with 3 games left while they only sit 10th! Yesterday in a game that mattered, Danny won a head to head with a relegation contender and his team leapfrogged out of the automatic relegation place and into the play off spot (and it was only goal difference which put them in the play off spot). At a time when we are not yet mathematically down and supposed to be fighting for our survival we are getting pumped 5-0, 3-0, and 3-0 again by our nearest rivals. Even if you want to denigrate Danny as clueless but lucky you would have to accept we would be a lot better off this season if we had kept him in charge. Couldn't agree more. TsuMirren
His pre-match rhetoric hasn't changed much: I would also like to thank you the fans for your support over the season. I firmly believe that the fans are the lifeblood of a club. You invest so much of your time, finances and emotions in to supporting this great club. It is an honour and a privilege to serve you as the manager of Alloa Athletic. Please enjoy the game today, be as positive as you can in your support and let’s do all that we can to win this game together. That said, it's much better than anything we've had all this season. Pass Meatball that big jaggy pole please"

Danny was a decent guy and willing to talk to fans , unlike his predecessor . He was willing to try positive things to improve the squad and was willing to admit it , if he made mistakes. The worrying thing was the way he could take us on long losing streaks , like the one we went on after winning the Cup. We will never know if he could have kept us in the top flight this season as sadly we never got to find out but he should certainly have been retained , when we didn't have someone with a better , proven track record than Danny. . Hindsight is a wonderful thing but for me Danny's time was definitely up. It's down to the board who brought in a joke figure in Tommy Craig to replace Danny. Tommy Craig would have made any previous manager look like Sir Alex.

norrie82
It's time people forget Danny. He was our manager he won the cup which we will always remember and I have nothing bad to say he seemed a decent lad. However some of his saints teams produced performances that were crap and his time was up. It just wasn't meant to be up with tommy staying we all know both should have went. class of 76-77
Brilliant result for Danny and his Alloa team, fully deserved for a man who is a total gentleman. Looking forward to a couple of trips to Alloa next season.
faraway saint
Well done Danny. A man with integrity and more class than most. If he'd stayed we would still be in the top league.
proudtobeabuddy
Lots of interesting games next season now with Alloa, Morton, and 2 teams from Hibs,Rangers and Mothwerwell, games against Falkirk are always interesting as well... We really need to appoint the right manager so we can hit the ground running from the start.
djchapsticks
Great to think that every game next season, aside from QOTS will be within 60 miles, and at least 5, potentially 6 within 40 miles. It's going to be a cracking league. Edited May 17, 2015 by djchapsticks

BuddieinEK
Absolutely delighted for Danny. Their chairman said he waited a month to get him as he was the man identified to keep him up. Players were all very complimentary too.

Strong league next season, very much doubt we will get out of it, think we are back to the shit state of the 90's, where it was deemed acceptable to be mooching around for scraps season after season in the first division.
